The first time they visited us, we did took them to all the touristy spots.
Now, my dad sleeps, eats, plays with the kids, repeat all day long. 
My mom cooks, plays with the kids, takes us shopping, cleans.

My mom and stepdad live close by, so whenever they come to visit it's usually to help my husband and I with house work (e.g. moving, painting, construction, etc).
My dad lives out of state and visits twice a year. He stays for about a week each time and stays busy the whole time visiting with other family members. It's a great visit because he has plans and doesn't need to be entertained the entire time and I still get quality time with my dad!

They come to see us, so we focus on quality family time.

My parents usually drive in for the day or only spend one night, so it's usually just doing the activity that we have going on (and helping to set up if it's something at my or my sisters house) and a meal.

My dad usually finds something that needs to be done - cleaned or fixed. My mom likes to turn visits into mini smart phone/internet lessons. They both play with the kids and feed them.
My ILs play with the kids and watch TV.

They don't visit that often so we usually try and entertain them by taking them out to dinner or something.

Watch TV, eat, sleep, pop out and say hi to the kids here and there. My mom also seems to do her laundry every day. Why, I have no idea. And she goes to the mall.
My FIL is usually helpful when he visits. He likes to tackle home projects with DH.

My parents don't live far, so we just visit with them when they come. Sometimes my dad helps DH with something.

Eat and sleep and play with their grand baby. We do that when we visit them too. Eat and sleep. And if we go on vacation together, we eat and sleep. We're lazy pigs apparently. lol!! Oh and they go grocery shopping when they're down here. Supposedly, it's cheaper here and we have things they don't have there.
My dad's really handy so if we need to fix something, he's all over it!

My mom makes dinner and cleans and hangs out. They like to take drives. We live 10 mins from Waikiki so they go there to people watch and watch the sunset. They go to the beach a lot and fish. Don't really do tourist things unless someone else comes along.
