Going off Autumnlove's post about swaddling blankets in the hospital...what do babies wear once they're cleaned up/before they're in their going home outfit (if you chose to have one)? Are they in a onesie under a swaddle? I've packed baby's hospital bag with a few NB onesies and mitted sleepers, but I have no idea if I actually will use these!

Kimono shirt and a diaper, with a swaddling blanket on top. All of that was provided by the hospital.

Our hospital put LO in Kimono shirts under the swaddling blankets. Honestly though we tried to do as much skin to skin as possible so she was often in just a diaper lying on my chest. We used very little of what I packed for her.

@MamaMoose: That makes sense-we're hoping to do as much skin to skin as well, so I don't know why I am so worried about having all these little outfits "just in case!"

Same as @hilsy85: but the day after she was born I did put her in a sleeper during the day, mostly cause I knew people were stopping by.

They told us in our newborn class last week just a diaper most of the time, especially so the umbi can heal!

She was in the NICU so most of the time she was just in a diaper swaddled, at one point they did put her in a fleece PJ (they provided) because she was cold.

Our hospital told us they just keep the baby in a diaper, no onesie or t-shirt, and swaddle if needed.

They put her in a onesie and swaddled her with their blankets (which were SO much better at staying closed). I'm going to bring a onesie and our own blankets next time.

There was no way we wanted to wrangle a onesie over our baby's big wobbly noggin! He wore the hospitals kimono shirt and diaper and swaddle. We also used socks and a hat when he got chilly. Zipper sleep and play for the ride home!

Diaper and hospital provided swaddle only. We spent most of our time in hospital skin to skin. I didn't dress her until we were discharged.

The kimono shirts, a diaper, hat, and a swaddle. Our hospital gave us like 4 kimono shirts when we left. He wore those during the day and zippered sleepers at night until we got brave enough to try real clothes.

LO wore those kimono shirts for like a month unless we were going somewhere.
