I'm guessing it's a white onesie? All of the newborn photos I have ever seen have been of the baby wrapped in the standard hospital blanket. Do they even put them in a onesie or just put them in a diaper and wrap them in the blanket?

My LO had a white onesie on and then they wrapped her in a blanket and put a cap on her head.

white kimono onesie with sleeves that goes over their hands so they can't scratch themselves and the hospital cap + swaddle blanket.

They never dressed our LO at all. They had side snap onsies available for us if we wanted them, but we just had her in the blanket the whole time. Honestly, we were trying to do skin to skin contact as much as possible, and that made it easier!

of the two hospitals closest to us: one just puts on a hat, diaper & swaddles in a flannel receiving blanket. the other puts a hat, side snap white shirt, diaper & swaddles in a flannel receiving blanket.

white long sleeved onesie with mitts over the hands (size 12 months! he was swimming in it!), standard hospital swaddling blanket (we took home 5, heh) and standard hospital hat.

no clothes at my hospital (Canada)
They have some diapers kicking around if you are in a pinch, but otherwise it's up to you. After the first bath they just asked me 'where are his clothes' and I dressed him.
Honestly, looking back on it, I wish I would have kept him longer in just a diaper so we could do more skin to skin time.

They never dressed our LO. They only wrapped him in a blanket and put a hat on his head. Then I had to take out the clothes/pjs i brought him.

Side snap long sleeve shirt (size 9m), diaper, hand knitted hat (donated by a local woman's club), swaddle blanket.
For pictures I had brought a sleeper from home and put her in that.

My nieces had little white onsies, and the one born during football season got one that said 'Lil Husker" which was adorable (we are crazy people football fans around here!) haha then the standard hat and flannel swaddle blanket.

long sleeved side snap t-shirt (sleeves had the fold over part to go over his hands), then a hat, diaper, and swaddled in a flannel hospital blanket. The shirt was probably 0-3 month size... Baby X was 8lbs and it was loose, but not huge on him.

My hospital has no clothes (that I know of)--they told us we had to bring stuff.
They also have a no pacifier policy.
But they do provide diapers...

@cvbee: @blushink: Did your hospital provide diapers? How long was your stay? I'm not in Canada but things are pretty similar here.

@Crumbs: they provided very little diapers so I brought my own. We stayed for min 44 hours. So 2 days

White kimono shirt with the fold-over cuffs and a swaddle. They also gave us tons of diapers. Tons.

Ours did onesie+jammies+gloves+2 swaddle blankets. I think it was a bit overkill. LO got multiple clothes changes every day.

Same as the other answers. White long-sleeved kimono onesie with foldover hand cuffs, diaper, cap, and swaddle blanket.

@Crumbs: They didn't provide diapers, but I did notice that they had some kicking around in secret places. The one thing I wasn't expecting was how long I'd be in the hospital. I thought maybe 1 or 2 days, but my baby was born on a Tuesday night, and we didn't go home until Friday night. (Natural birth, no complications). I had foolishly packed like 6 diapers and 2 outfits for the baby. Had to send DH home to get a full pack of diapers and several outfits (boy peed on his top almost every time I changed him until I got smart about that). People tell me that in 'the big city' they make you go home much sooner, but in my small town they 'keep the babies in the hospital until they are ready for kindergarten'. I was so glad that they kept me for 4 days....really gave me a chance to focus on learning to breastfeed and to just relax and focus on baby.

Just a diaper and then swaddled in a hospital blanket. Anything else, I had to provide (even any subsequent diapers!)

I'm in Canada too (BC) and we got a pack of diapers and they gave us a hat that some ladies had knitted for the hospital. They just wrapped her in a blanket though, no clothes.
