I'm not saying I'm perfect by any means, but these are the ones that I see most often:
it's vs its (it's is always it is and not the possessive of it)
peak vs peek

Improper capitalization. I swear most people don't know that you don't just capitalize a word for emphasis.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
Less v fewer. Drives me insane, especially at supermarket tills where it always says 9 items less - it's only one more letter to write it properly!!!
pomelo / 5628 posts
loose v. lose - it's like finger nails on a chalkboard for me!
You didn't just "loose" the game.
pomelo / 5321 posts
I'm definitely not perfect. I am super relaxed about my grammar when I type online. However, I think it is absolutely ridiculous when people don't know the difference between your/you're or there/their/they're. Where were they in second grade?
Oh, I know someone who always writes "are" instead of "our." Horrible!
@Mrs Green Grass: I hate that one too!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Sweet T: your/you're in one of my biggest pet peeves too! along with there/their/they're.
And my next favorite is when people assume when they're adding an 's' to the end of a word, that it deserves an apostrophe! Oh my gosh!! It kills me!!! I am wearing pants, not pant's! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Ash: yes the apostrophe gets me every time!
All improper grammar gets me. But I've noticed there are so many annoying autocorrect issues on my iPhone that half the time on hellobee people probably assume I can't speak because I miss half the typos
pomelo / 5628 posts
@sorrycharlie: My phone auto-corrected "Maybe grandma can watch lo" to "Maybe grandma can eat h lo." Not grammar issue, but funny!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: lol! I tried to text my dad "LO looks like a weeble!" And it autocorrected to weenie!! He never mentioned that text. LOL
papaya / 10560 posts
Your and you're...so simple but so misused! Also, when people say "could care less..." It's "couldn't care less," otherwise they could care more!
hostess / eggplant / 11068 posts
- Your and you're drives me up the wall.
- "Could care less" (as @matador84 said).
- "Could of" or "should of"...It's "could have" or "should have"
- there/their/they're
- much/many
UGH!
pomegranate / 3604 posts
For myself: I hate when I can't capitalize "I", but typing one-handed just means I have to get it out. I wince every time I do it.
you're/your & their/they're/there, bored/board, aisle/isles, loose/lose, any sort of stuff like that.
pomelo / 5331 posts
It's/ its
Adding an apostrophe to your last name when it should just be plural - we just got this on a WEDDING thank-you card ("The Smith's thank you")
Ballin instead of bawling - I see this all the time now and I'm like, wtf?
Viola instead of voila - UGH.
Then/than
Isle instead of aisle
Peek/peak
Not a mistake, but makes me even more angry that it's intentional - "u" instead of "you." So lazy!
It irks me so. These are all grown-ass adults who supposedly went to lots of school and they don't even know the difference between an island and the space between rows of chairs? I also think constant posting from smartphones is contributing to the "nonsensification" of communication, with missing words, incorrect words, etc. Half the time I can't understand a thing people are trying to say.
Sorry, I'm such a snob!
pomegranate / 3895 posts
All of them. I am such a grammar snob...
- they're, their, there
- your vs. you're
- less vs. fewer
- much vs. many
- misuse of apostrophes
- subject-verb disagreement
- loose vs. lose
- using "myself" instead "I" or "me" (e.g. "Sarah and myself went shopping.")
- using "I" instead of "me" (i.e. not knowing the difference between a subject and object)
- irregardless
- the death of the adverb
Seriously, I have a problem. That isn't even an exhaustive list!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
Improper use of an apostrophe. I see it all the time and it drives me nuts. Ex: Merry Christmas from the Smith's.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
All of the above!
Your you're
They're there their especially!
honeydew / 7444 posts
@hergreenapples: oh my gosh, the whole "myself/i" bit annoys me so much. Since when was using "me" so wrong? Your list says it all! I had a coworker who used to correct my "regardless" with "irregardless"...drove me bananas!

The word "bee's"
Happens all.the.time on here and it drives me bonkers. Bees. Bees. Bees. Not bee's.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Rubies: My biggest pet peeve is "could of" or "should of" instead of "could have" or "should have".
Another mistake that I can't stand is when people use the word "weary" instead of "wary". Wary means that you are being cautious and weary means you are exhausted.
pear / 1837 posts
The fact that no one uses "pique" when they should. I constantly see "to PEAK one's interest" when it should be PIQUE.
http://www.vocabulary.com/articles/chooseyourwords/ has a great list of these, like affect/effect, compose/comprise, faze/phase.
The whole less vs. fewer thing drives my mathematician husband nuts, so I've picked that up too.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Lozza: yesssssss!!! I love the word piqué haha!
@hergreenapples: yup, grammar snob here too.
- when someone doesn't capitalize "I"
- writing in textese: "u r so gr8!!"
- their/they're/there
- when someone uses the word "literally" incorrectly, I have a friend who uses it all the time to mean "really".
- @hergreenapples: adverbs! I learned that when saying a sentence such as "I feel bad" it should be "I feel badly". No one seems to know that.
-@ladyfingers: bahaha yes to "balling"!! Haha I never know if someone was crying, or having a good time
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
Haha I'm guilty of some of these, and autocorrect does help matters any! I try my best
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@matador84: yes! this drives me absolutely nuts because if you think about it, it doesn't make sense at all. i was once reading some forum on the internet where someone said it was correct to say "could care less" but it was just a way of saying it differently. i was like, what? no. its just wrong!
kiwi / 733 posts
Another grammar snob over here! They pretty much all drive me crazy. I've been known to lose (not loose!) respect for businesses when I find mistakes on their websites/menus/signs/etc. It's possible I drive my husband a little crazy pointing out little mistakes like that!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
Ya'll.
It's a contraction of you all. Y'all. I see it on Facebook all the time.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Ash: The apostrophe makes me stabby. We got SEVERAL Christmas cards this year that said (for example), "Merry Christmas from the Smith's." NO!
Pretty much all grammatical errors make me crazy. Grammatical and pronunciation errors. UGH. On Veterans Day, a local furniture store had a commercial on about their "Vetrans" Day sale - I wanted to throw something at the tv! I'm fine with things like "ay-pricot" vs. "ah-pricot," because that's cultural/regional, but when you're blatantly mispronouncing a word like that....BANANAS!!!!!
eggplant / 11287 posts
Switching that/who.
For example "Name people you know that have great style." Since they are people, it should be "Name people you know WHO have great style."
I swear no one ever gets it right!
Also who/whom.
And when people use apostrophes when they are pluralizing something. Like...." Go Seahawk's!!!" Seriously?
pomegranate / 3244 posts
People who use adverbs incorrectly.
I want to go on vacation so bad VS I want to go on vacation so badLY. People always forget the -LY and it drives me bonkers.
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
All of them!!!!
But if I had to pick one ... Unnecessary apostrophes. Drive's me crazy
coconut / 8430 posts
Omg I'm totally guilty of not knowing a few of these like the less vs fewer... Or who vs that.
I've seen voila misspelled a lot and it makes me laugh. "Wallah" was the best one.
I also had to bite my tongue when a friend used the word crunch instead of crutch.
GOLD / pear / 1845 posts
I hate it when people say "seen" instead of "saw" as in "I seen you the other day". Seriously?
My husband is so the grammer police, he was raised by two linguists and is bilingual. He's cured me of most of my filler words, which is his biggest pet peeve.
pomelo / 5331 posts
@sunny: AH YES on the "Wallah"! Hooked on phonics definitely didn't work for them...
All of these make me twitchy. Especially when it's businesses, books, websites, etc. I'm reading Baby 411 right now and the editing is absolutely ATROCIOUS. It honestly makes me want to discount all the advice in the book.
