I realize the odds are no longer in my favour now I've seen red. What should I expect tonight? Does it just get heavier? How long after you saw red blood did cramping start?

Oh no - I am so sorry. I didn't miscarry on my own, so I don't have any helpful information. But my heart goes out to you - wall me if you would like an ear/virtual shoulder.
Also paging @Mrs. jump rope: who has had bleeding that didn't result in miscarriage. Any advice?

I'm so sorry.
I'm not sure if this is helpful but I had red bleeding with both of my successful pregnancies. I hope your situation turns out the same. Hugs.

I'm so sorry. Hugs.
My first pregnancy was an early miscarriage at 5 weeks. The bleeding gradually got worse, and the cramping had already started when it turned to red. It was like a very heavy period.
My second pregnancy with DS... I had spotting one evening at 5 weeks, and when I woke up the next morning, I had an AF amount of red bleeding. I was sure it was a miscarriage, but I never cramped. Went to the ER, and confirmed I was still pregnant. I spotted and bled for my entire pregnancy.
I am hoping for the best for you. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

@travelgirl1: red doesn't mean miscarriage. It's scary but it doesn't mean miscarriage. Big hugs. My phone is on all night if you need me.

@travelgirl1: I'm sorry you're going through this With my first pregnancy I spotted until 7 weeks but I was told by the doctor at 5 weeks that I would mc. I cramped for a couple of days before I actually mc. I had bad cramping one night and then started bleeding like AF the next morning.
With LO, I also spotted and had red bleeding until 7/8 weeks. Everything turned out fine.
Thinking of you and hope everything turns out ok.

I had light red spotting at bedtime (which I immediately looked up online and found that it's totally normal and not a sign of miscarriage necessarily). The next morning I woke up and it was just like the first day of my period, heavy red blood. The cramping started pretty much immediately at that point.

@travelgirl1: I called my OB and went to the ER. They did a Doppler and then an ultrasound, and baby was fine. It was super scary, but it doesn't necessarily mean miscarriage. I would definitely call your OB and see what he/she suggests you do. I had bleeding from a SCH right at 12 weeks that lasted for about 2 months on and off.

Call your OB tomorrow and get a scan for sure!!! It could be absolutely nothing. For one of mine, though, it just gushed out of me in a puddle. I was actually taken to the hospital by ambulance, BUT I think that is uncommon. Another time, it just got heavier and heavier and before I knew it, it was lightening up and I had been expecting more but that was it!
I think it varies greatly on so many factors. Are you cramping? That with the blood is a bad sign but one by itself is not always it!

There are lots of stories I've read with scary red bleeding in healthy pregnancies-- hopefully this will turn out to be nothing. So sorry. I was only 6weeks along with mine, but it was a day or so of light spotting followed by a sudden huge rush of blood and clots (sorry tmi). The extremely heavy bleeding and passing of clots lasted for about seven hours on and off before letting up, but there was no cramping for me. Good luck. I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

@travelgirl1: Are you having cramps at all? I really hope that it is just some random bleeding.

oh no sweetie, I am praying it is nothing and that things are fine!

I hope you are okay! I had tons of bright red blood for an hour that soaked a pad at 12 weeks. The OB on call said, "that is a normal symptom in 25% of pregnancies." My OB (when I spoke to her later) (who is a more serious, less soft bedmanner type) said, "that can happen in 25% of pregnancies with no consequence." LO is a year old. Whatever happens,

Thanks so much for your support, everyone
I'm not cramping but I feel tender if that makes sense? I guess like you do the day before a period. This all started with pink this morning that went away but came back brown at about 2pm. It turned red after going to the bathroom at about 6.30 but is brown again now.
DD's big sister shirt arrived in the mail tonight. Super cute but sad timing
I had emailed my nurse this morning, I will email her again tomorrow morning when to see what they say. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday anyway, hopefully they'll bring it forward.
I'm so annoyed with myself, I know worrying won't change the outcome but I'm so nervous I feel sick.

oh man, I'm sorry. I bled red twice but then it stopped and I never had any cramping. I did have a blighted ovum, diagnosed at 7 weeks but the doctor doesn't think the bleeding had anything to do with it. I'm hoping it's all good news for you.

@travelgirl1: tmi club. Was it after #2? If your cervix was irritated from last night's activities any straining in that area could have re-irritated things.

@oliviaoblivia: Yeah but I'm starting to doubt blaming it all on last night's activities, it wasn't a vigorous session or anything....

@travelgirl1: I'm so sorry. Here is what I was told
1) put your feet up and rest only getting up for the bathroom if you can help it. Drink water to hydrate.
2) if you fill more than a pad in an hour go in to the ER or you OB.
I ended up going to the ER and after a long painful day we were sent home with only the news that our baby had a heart beat.
Turns out I had a SCH and bled for a while but never miscarried.
Here is the longer story. http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/threatened-miscarriage-my-experience#post-1305502

@travelgirl1: pregnant cervixes (?) are super engorged with blood, even a slight bump can irritate them and cause bleeding.

@travelgirl1: My experience has been that if it tapers back to brown, that's a good thing. (I know that may not be true for some, but for me it was). I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! It's so hard not to worry, I know. I had a really, really irritable cervix when I was pregnant. Chiming in on the TMI club, but #2 always caused me to bleed.

I'm so sorry - it's a terrible experience to go through. I awoke to red blood at about 6w along. Basically the flow just stayed pretty constant and medium-ish for several days. I never had any cramping. I did go to the ob the next morning and they did an ultrasound and confirmed that the embryo was no longer there.
Sending you many hugs!
ETA: just read your later post about it turning brown - that didn't happen for me until weeks later when the bleeding finally started to stop, so I'd say it's a good sign!

Fingers crossed everything turns out ok!
For me, once it turned red, it stayed red and was pretty constant. It was also accompanied by cramping.

@T.H.O.U.: This is exactly what happened with ours.
@travelgirl1: Seriously, if you are feeling anxious call your OB. They should have an after hours line. That is what they are there for. The anxiety isn't good for your or your little peanut, and they may be able to help. Hugs momma Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

How far along are you?
I had red blood at 4w6d and was under the care of an re, who brought me in for an early ultrasound. It didn't show anything except an interuterine pregnancy, so they were able to rule out an ectopic. I was taking progesterone suppositories & she suspected they were irritating my cervix. At an internal exam at 8w, my OB described my cervix as red, sensitive and juicy. Nice visual huh??
I had brown spotting at 8w, and was diagnosed with an SCH. I went on to have a ton of red bleeding, much heavier and more in quantity than I ever thought possible with my size SCH (I think it was .5 cm).
I bled again and again through out my pregnancy, and it's always been a gush of red. My SCH bled out & my previa corrected itself. I have cervical verices. I'm not sure if I spelled that correctly, it's basically hemmerhoids on my cervix. No clue how they got there, since I've been on pelvic rest since 4w6d, but they're here and won't ever go away.
I hope you're okay! Can you call your doctor? I'd want to be seen ASAP for peace of mind.
