We had the weirdest night and this is the second time in a month it's happened. She's 16 months old.

In the middle of the night, E wakes up screaming, absolutely hysterical. Like a scared/hurt sounding cry and is trying to climb out of the crib. I go in there and all she wants is to be held. And she clings to me like a baby monkey or something. She's fine if she's laying on me or with me but as soon as I set her down or walk away, she starts sobbing uncontrollably and freaking out again. And usually I can go in, rub her back, and walk out and she's fine. I rarely have to go in there. But both nights, DH has ended up falling asleep on the floor next to her and then transferring her. She wanted nothing to do with her crib, but won't sleep in bed with us, either (she either wants to play or just tosses around so much and doesn't fall asleep). She goes to sleep just fine, no problems, just wakes up freaking out.

Is this night terrors? A separation anxiety thing? I'm so perplexed and I wrote the first one off, but now it's happened a second time....
