Why do kids love him so? Is it the easy to say name? Is it his bright red color? Is it his voice?

@mediagirl: I don't get it either. LO came home from daycare one day wanting to watch Elmo. I know that her daycare doesn't watch tv. I think her little friends told her all about him.

It must be a combo of the voice and the red colour because the only time E has ever seen Elmo she went wild, smiling and laughing and squeeling. She was about 6 months old.

I don't know but I think the voice has a lot to do with it. DD loooooved Elmo the minute she laid eyes on him.

I'm not sure but my LO was a fan ever before watching Sesame Street or videos! Elmo!

I have noooo idea. I always found him slightly annoying and never planned to introduce him to J. Well he found out about him anyway while I let him play with my phone, found youtube videos and elmo episodes on his pbs kids app. Now he's obsessed. If he sees anything elmo at the store he immediately shouts, "Elmoooo!!!"

I don't know what it is, but I am fully sheltering DS from him, just because I can't stand Elmo lol.

I don't know either! I think M first discovered him in a book so now we'll watch Elmo on Sesame Street and whenever she sees him - on TV, in a book, in a store, she goes totally crazy!!

I'm sure there must have been some research into what would most attract toddlers and babies. His voice, his color, talking about himself in 3rd person. LO watches Sesame Street but wants to fast forward and just watch the parts with Elmo. He is a drug!

I don't know but I can't stand Elmo. Actually DS isn't that interested in him. Thank goodness. He has a few Elmo books and always calls him a cat. Ha.

i think it's definitely the voice. I think kids also gravitate towards bright colors like red

I think it's his big eyes and high pitched voice!! LO is also obsessed, even though she doesn't watch him on TV or videos she can spot him anywhere and freaks out when she sees him. We do listen to a sesame street CD and she loves her some La La La La... then we put different family members names and she squeals

I don't know how DS figured out who Elmo is. He's on his toothbrush and diapers but I never pointed it it until he recently became obsessed with saying "memo? Memo?" For Elmo.
