Interested what everyone's top book (or series) is.
Sadly, I haven't done much grown-up reading. My all-time favorite series will always be Harry Potter.
I think my favorite book though, is 'Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife' by Linda Berdoll. If you like the Pride and Prejudice series, you seriously have to read this!! (It's an easy read, not difficult like P&P)

Ooh...that is a tough question. I'm definitely with you on HP being my favorite series. I think for my favorite book EVER, I'd have to say The Book Thief.

I don't know the the "His Dark Materials" series (the golden compass, subtle knife, amber spyglass) counts as grown up reading, but if so, that's mine! Those of you who like HP should try it!

My favorite books, off the top of my head are Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins and Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood (I love the whole trilogy, but the first is the best)

@beaker: those are my pick, too. My husband and I were just talking about them last night actually! I think I will retread them again soon.
Favorite doesn't necessarily = best, I think (best, from the title of the thread). The best book I've ever read is probably Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantle - her history is accurate (unlike many "period" books), and her writing is amazing - very visual.
