Ever? Er that's a hard call... I tend to fall in love with a book, but then I'll re-read an old favourite and be like "THIS is THE book!!"... until the next book lol.
The best book I've read recently is "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn.

@pui: I really didn't like Gone Girl . . . the characters were just not believable to me.

@MrsKoala: I loooove the Blind Assassin. That might be on my list as well.
It's interested to me that so many people say Gatsby- I don't care for Gatsby at all, but Tender is the Night is one of my favorites.

@Sweet T: Hmm I think we have the same taste in books I was wondering about the storyteller, I want to read it but of course it's in hardcover only and I can't spend that much right now.

I seriously went down the responses and realized I love about half the books listed! My top two are Jane Eyre and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, after that it is a 100 way tie!
I just finished Gatsby and enjoyed it but I feel like I am missing something. I wasn't totally captivated like I am by anything that falls into my favorites category.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@Sweet T: that doesn't seem to bad actually! I just saw it at Target for $21 so maybe I just need to research

OK, I seriously went and looked at my bookshelf to pick out some favs. My list is super random:
- In the Time of the Butterflies, by Julia Alvarez
- We Were the Mulvaneys, by Joyce Carol Oates
- Songs in Ordinary Time, by Mary McGarry Morris
- Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, by Fannie Flagg (also love her other books, Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man, and Welcome to the World, Baby Girl!)
- The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak
There are just too many!!!
