Hmmm...some people say I look exotic so not sure where that fits in. I think it's because I'm 100% korean but look kinda mixed.

I get pretty and cute a lot. I'm definitely not gorgeous or beautiful. I think sometimes my outfits are cute? Sometimes I feel pretty if I've made an effort or am all dressed up.

I get all of the above. Now I look like a vain jerk.
I get beautiful and gorgeous and "you clean up nicely" when I ... clean up nicely. (I think makeup contributes to these ones).
I get pretty and cute otherwise. (I am short with a baby face and I don't wear makeup often--I think this contributes to "cute")
From my husband I get "sexy" but none of the other words. I think this one (from non-spouse people) often has to do with clothing.

I don't really have people comment on my overall looks, but my whole life I've always been told how beautiful or pretty my eyes are.

I usually refer to an outfit as cute (like one someone wlse is wearing), and when I say that it means I like the look and would wear it myself or I wish I owned it.

I'm short...and I look younger than my years, so I get called cute.

@mrbee: Isn't hot the same as sexy? Oh wait, sexy wasn't one of the options. What about "FOOOOINE" (like my husband likes to put it)

@Mrs. Pen: i think of cute having to do more with facial features -- like reese's nose is so cute! and her heart-shaped face adds to the cuteness...i feel like cute is a mix of delicate and sweet features.

@mrbee: i feel like hot can = slightly trashy. like megan fox.

I think it's a good-looking scale. Cute, then pretty, then beautiful, then gorgeous.

@banana: I've gotten exotic too, and I always think, "I guess I'll take that as a compliment..." Haha people are always asking where I'm "from." I'm just boring 100 percent American with Irish, English, and Eastern European ancestors so nothing all that exciting! Who knows... Haha

I remember the guys I knew when I was 18-19 having a theory on this. There was Pretty, Cute, and Beautiful. You could be a mix of two but never all three. Pretty is more feminine and natural. Fine boned maybe, pastels. Cute is more a style/attitude thing I think. Pigtails. Mittens. Beautiful is stronger featured than pretty, more like bombshell.

I can be cute or beautiful, but I don't pull off pretty.

I think of beautiful as natural beauty; someone who is stunning without makeup on. Gorgeous is like beautiful; except they are made up. I think lots of people can be gorgeous from time to time; but few people are really beautiful.

Cute seems youthful and pretty is a safe, middle of the road category.

@mrbee: i find hot usually refers mainly to someone's physique. My husband will say, "She's hot, but not that pretty."

@HLK208: I always find that you get "beautiful" when you put in the effort too! I notice comments of "gorgeous/beautiful" on friends' wedding photos when i would normally think of them as cute (on an everyday basis).
