What is the difference between cute, pretty, gorgeous, beautiful etc?

I've gotten "cute" my whole life. I figure it's my round face and generally youthful appearance. My younger sister, who everyone says we look like twins, has always gotten "hot", "gorgeous", "sexy", "beautiful." Perhaps the difference is in the way we carry and portray ourselves? Like, I generally prefer to dress sweet and feminine vs. sexy and bold.

I get beautiful or pretty a lot. Never cute. I don't think
I'm petite or freckle-y enough to be "cute".
Honestly, as they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"... I am sure there are plenty of women whom I might find none of those adjectives, but I bet their husbands think they're beautiful.

I typically get beautiful more than anything that or lovely for some reason. Can't say that I agree with either but I really don't think I fall into the cute category, I really don't know what I am lol.

@Mrs. Pen: Why? It's ranking of something good! If anyone thought I was cute, I'd be very pleased (even if it's at the bottom of my scale). Also, I think most people fall in the cute/pretty range. But, I guess it's an unanswerable question - beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all.

I completely agree with your original definitions!

I do think cute has a lot to do with a person's personality and how they act whereas pretty and beautiful are purely looks-based. I equate gorgeous with a degree of sexiness.

I also don't think it's a scale of good looking-ness. They're just....different descriptions. Like, I think Zooey Deschanel and Minka Kelly are equally good looking but because of their features and personality traits, one is pretty and the other is beautiful.

I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I would say that I get pretty and gorgeous (however this is usually in regards to my eye color.) My celebrity equations are this:

Cute: Ginnifer Goodwin, Hayden Paniteere (sp?)
    Pretty: Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawerence
    Gorgeous: Nina Dobrev, Marissa Miller
Beautiful: is timeless; Helen Hunt, Sandra Bullock
