The Exorcist? The Shining? The Ring? They're all great! I grew up on Freddy, Jason and Michael, but I think they're more campy fun than scary. I loooove a good horror movie! There is an old Italian movie called Suspiria that is also one of my favorites.

Honestly, The Strangers was really creepy, mostly because it was totally plausible and the antagonists had no motives to do what they did. Which freaks me out.

Honestly, the movies that scare me the most are about the end of the world, like The Day After Tomorrow, I had nightmares after seeing that.

The Ring, The Grudge and The Descent all made me scream out loud in the theater. I hate horror movies now (except for the fun really campy ones).

The Shining because I was watching it at night with my friend and someone paged me 666 (so this was a looooong time ago). To this day, I have no idea who did that. We both screamed our heads off.

Rob Zombie's version of Halloween. That's the last scary movie I watched and it scared the crap out of me. I used to love scary movies but I can't watch them anymore. Ugh!

The Hills Have Eyes creeped me out big time. The Descent was fantastic and creepy, I loved the concept.

@Sweet T: oh I hate that movie. My mom and stepdad love Halloween and went to see it in theaters. My DH and I went with them. I was so upset that I went. I looked away almost the entire time.

Scariest is The Ring. Creepiest is The Shining. They're both pretty much neck and neck for my favorite horror movies, and they both leave me totally paralyzed for hours afterwards!
@Mrs. Bee: I love Suspiria! I love those old Italian horror movies where everything is super saturated colors and crazy red blood. My ex and I watched it years ago and our inside joke was whispering "Suspiiiiiria."
@chopsuey119: Traumatized, yes. I've seen it more than a few times, but it wasn't until recently that I could even watch the part where they show the teenage girl in the closet! I always, always closed my eyes for that. That, and the boyfriend in the chair. UGGHHH.
@.twist.: I agree, that movie was totally creepy!! The part at the end, OMG her face! Eeek!!
@sweetchic: OMG BLAIR WITCH. Totally the scariest last minute of any movie ever. That and Paranormal Activity, it's like the whole movie builds you up, you're constantly on the edge of your seat waiting for the scare, and then all of a sudden in like the last minute it's like BALLS SCARY HOLY CRAP.

I must admit that I find the Wizard of Oz scary as heck. I must have been traumatized with it early in life, and I still can't watch it, or even handle any pictures from it.

The Exorcist for sure! My friend and I watched it together when we were 13 and her parents were gone for the night and we screamed so much her neighbors called the cops!! d'oh!
The Ring also gave me the wiggins for several weeks after!

I did just watch part of The Exorcist on TV the other night, looks like it was a great scary movie for it's time! Doesn't really freak me out now, but I bet it would have when I was younger!

I used to not like The Shining but then we got married at the hotel that inspired Stephen King to write the book (Stanley Hotel) and they play the movie 24/7 and it's actually quite intriguing now to watch

I hate any movies about possession and exorcism. They absolutely terrify me. Even last week's episode of American Horror Story. I had nightmares. After seeing The Exorcism of Emily Rose, I STILL check the clock when I get up to pee/get a drink. If it's around 3am, I'll wait.

I haven't seen a whole lot of scary movies. Like, I've never seen the Ring, The Grudge, Hills have Eyes... Never heard of Stigmata. Now I'm kind of curious to watch those!
I have seen all the Paranormal Activity ones and the first one scared the crap out of me for a week or so. I couldn't sleep with my leg out of the covers! My BFF loves to watch scary movies with me because I scream and act ridiculous.

I'm such a wimp with scary movies, although I do love the non-gory ones, even though I scream and hide my face for most of them. I think the one that stuck with me for the longest was The Ring - I watched it in my dorm room in the middle of the day and I was still terrified! I haven't watched it again since.

About 10 years ago I went on a date and saw the updated version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and I'm still traumatized. I didn't think I was going to make through the entire thing. And my date had the gall to be mad I didn't like it!

I think Michael Myers is the scariest villain ever...no matter how fast you run, he always catches up just by walking. And you can't see his face, just that creepy mask. So I vote for any of the Halloween movies!

I cannot do scary movies!!! I watched One Missed Call when I was dating DH and it wasn't even that scary but I was messed up!! I made DH turn on ALL the lights, then stay at my house until I fell asleep.

I think a really scary movie that is also well done is The Grudge!

@sslm: I haven't seen it since either! I seriously can't even see him on a t-shirt. His bony fingers and elbows haunt me.
I am sure there are some crazy scary movies out there, but I don't watch them. I prefer chick flicks. Every time.
