The only debt we have is our mortgage, car loans, and my student loans but put together those three are around $300K. Gulp.

$45k in student loans, but those are going away in the next week! Woohoo!

@MrsKoala: We have the same three, but I've never added them all together! Sad panda. $177k for us.

We don't have a mortgage so about 20k in student loans & another 7k in our cc debt, personal loans, & car loan.

I just put this in another post, lol. About $12.5k in student loans, and that's it! Will end up adding $250-300k in mortgage soon!

$370k ... we just bought our second house a few months ago. We are paying extra on the mortgage every month though.

Mortgage is about $300k and the truck is around $25k left on it.

We have just a mortgage and a car loan, but together they're about $390k. It is a lot more than I ever want to have outstanding, but it is what it is.

Ours is under 15k (student loans and car) until you add mortgage which is A LOT but I don't really consider that debt since you can sell it.

I actually have a spreadsheet that I keep track of all our debt with. Right now we have $122,916.05 in debt. But that includes all of our student loans and mortgage.

Ugh we just have our mortgages but we own 2 homes. One we're renting out right now. I've never added those 2 up before. It's just over $230k.

Mortgage is currently about $365k, and I have $10k left on a student loan. We own our car free and clear. I always have a balance on my CC because I use it for everything and pay it off each month, but I don't usually consider that "real debt" because I always have the money there to pay it off. I know it does technically count on my credit report and stuff, but mentally I just categorize it differently.
BTW, the poll looks like its missing an option for $401k-500k.

Thankfully we only have a mortgage. We have some decisions to make soon & it's possible it will be paid off soon as well.

we haven't bought a house yet and we're saving like crazy for a down payment. one car is paid off and we're doing the other one little by little. no other debt. thankfully we had both paid off our student loans before we got married.

Yikes, I did not like what we had to answer, considering we don't have a mortgage! We just bought a fairly expensive (although used) car so that's the majority of it. I have a ways to go on my small-ish student loan, and then we have some credit card debt that we are getting ready to wipe out in the next year.

Mortgage makes it a much scarier number!!! It's about 260k probably? The only debt we have that isn't our mortgage is a car loan with about 11k left on it.

I forgot about condo, so I voted wrong. With both mortgages and my car payment, we are over $500.

$149k, most is mortgage and rest is student loan and small car loan. That # is kinda exciting though cause we moved to a lower cost of living area and mortgage went from $203k to $125k because of it!

Our only debt has been in the form of our mortgage for the past 3 years. Can't wait to get rid of that one, but I'm afraid it will take us another 15 years
eggplant / 11824 posts
Over 500k (gulp!)
300k for house mortgage
190k for condo mortgage (tenant pays our mortgage tho)
35k+ student loans

@SSLM It's so nice being debt free but it's a little painful every month paying rent knowing we don't have a house yet. Hopefully this coming year.

My law school loans are too high. at least I'm in the five digits now!

Zero! But we don't own a home yet. Will wait till we leave the city.

@MsLipGloss: hahaha.. soooo true!
You can't find a large house inside the beltway for under $1 million. We live in the suburbs and houses range from $600k - over $1 million.

We don't own a home yet, we pay our credit card in full every month, and we only have one vehicle loan. I think we have $7800 left on it. We will be buying another vehicle soon though, and hopefully this winter-spring we'll be buying a home. We'll be in the $300k range this time next year.

we dont have a mortgage yet, just car loans and student loans so its under 50K
pineapple / 12053 posts
we pay off our credit card each month and rent, so we're debt free!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
We have a few thousand from big store purpose-- interest free financing so it's better to make the payments every month and keep the money in our savings account earning a little bit of interest. Other than that, zero. We are still renting until we move out of the city, so no mortgage, and we just have one older car that we paid cash for. We are very lucky to not have any student loan debt.
Once we buy a house, though, our mortgage will almost definitely top out your list, even with a 20% down payment. Houses are really expensive here!
