Lately I've been using Truvia at home. If I'm out, I might use Splenda. Nutrasweet and Sweet n' Low is my last choice.
What is your artificial sweetener of choice?

I don't believe in artificial sweetener.
Sugar alllllll the way

I've used Stevia in the past - but I'm a believer in real sugar in moderation. I would never eat Splenda because I don't like the taste at all, and I'd never eat Sweet n' lo, etc. because of the taste and I don't think it's healthy.

same as chopsuey119- I think (some) artificial sweetener can be even worse than sugar! I stick to local raw honey and pure maple syrup

Sorry, we are sweetener snobs--only honey and real sugar in this household.
ETA: I've never tried Truvia, but I've tried the others and they taste way too weird.

Real sugar only as well, there is a lot if literature on the dangers of artificial sweeteners.

I also prefer a little real sugar to any artificial sweeteners. If I had to I prefer Splenda over the others, but I haven't tried Stevia or Truvia.

Aww, you guys are being pretty harsh towards Truvia, which from what I understand comes from purified extract of the stevia leaf:

I wish I could have sugar or honey, but if I do my body immediately starts gaining weight. So to me, sugar is no bueno... even if it comes in the form of lovely and delicious clementines, alas!

@mrbee: Yeah, I'm not too concerned about Stevia products. It's been around forever. I'm just not really into the taste - it has a coldness or a bite or something. I've used it before to make coffee drinks at home. It's the other stuff I think is dangerous.

Most artificial sweeteners give me a headache, I don't know why. Never tried truvia, though, so that could be ok! My top choice is honey--I like to put it in my tea and coffee.

Raw honey, brown sugar, or Splenda. Never sweet 'n low or Equal. And I don't like the taste of Truvia or Stevia either!

Real sugar!! I think artificial sweeteners taste funny. And even though white sugar is processed, it's more real and worth the 15 calories a teaspoon to me over an artificial sweetener.

Splenda or raw honey are my sweetners of choice. DH wanted cookies that are rolled in sugar this weekend so we bought real sugar for the first time in a while.

@mrbee: I don't believe in artificial sweeteners either. They are horrible for your body and brain and contain all kinds of nasty chemicals.
There is absolutely no Splenda, Sweet'n'Low, Equal, NutraSweet or any other "sugar free" sweetener in my home. We use raw sugar and real maple syrup.
I don't classify Truvia as artificial though, since it's made from natural ingredients and isn't chemical based. I just don't like the taste very much.

@Arden: I am not even sure how to reply to your comment!

@mrbee: Sorry if that came off harsh, I just really don't want people to use those dangerous chemicals thinking they are safer than sugar. There have been so many studies, and all of them (that I've seen) have had negative and sometimes horrifying results.
I didn't really say anything that other people already said though, except that I don't put Truvia in the same boat as all the others. It's a natural sweetener and there haven't been any studies (that I know of) proving it's dangerous, so I think it's a safe option, unlike chemical sweeteners.

The less anyone uses artificial sweeteners the better. Truvia is currently the lesser of all evils although as I understand it only uses an extract of Stevia and using Stevia is a better way to go. Some studies have actually had stevia as being beneficial to health.
A lot of the rest of artificial sweeteners have carcinogens, they are also bad for diabetics too (in some studies worse than sugar itself!).
The biggest problem in diets today is sugar and artificial sweeteners, especially those in soft drinks. Truvia is marketed by Coca-Cola, hopefully they have plans to phase out the evil that is high fructose corn syrup.

I use equal in my tea. I have gotten speeches from random strangers about being pregnant and drinking artificial sweetener, I.e., feeding it to my baby. So rude. It's sweetener. Not rat poison.

Not to be alarmist but aspartame (which is what Equal is) has been linked to many illnesses and some would consider it to be not much better than rat poison, especially in excess.
