I love hearing about home improvement! What are you working on? We just put striped carpet treads on our hardwood stairs with the hope of making them safer. I'm building a table for our entryway, next goal is to get the house better organized. What are you working on?

New floors and new kitchen.

We are getting ready to rip the carpet up on our steps & put the hardwood down.
We are getting estimates to have our retaining wall & front steps redone.
Landscaping in the back yard. It's a mess.
And hopefully in the next six months, a new downstairs bathroom. There's carpet in there. 'Nuff said.

Not really a major home improvement, but we're finishing up decorating our nursery! So excited to post photos of the finished product.

Uhhh, DH is ripping out nearly our entire lawn so it can be regraded. The things men will do to avoid mowing the lawn.

We are in the middle of having a basement bathroom built. So far, we have the rough-ins done. Next step is framing! 2 bathrooms in my house - I'm so excited!

DH wants to take out our current vegetable garden put in by the old owners and build his own raised garden beds.
I've been also wanting to put up pictures/paintings after a year of living here, but I am so indecisive and can't commit to anything!
Lastly, we'll be setting up the nursery in the fall!

Wallpaper is removed from Master Bath. Now we need to do wall repair, wood trim around new windows, paint ceiling, paint walls, new sink fixtures, new light fixture, and convince DH that he wants to replace the carpet with tile or laminate!!! (No carpet at toilet, but it still doesn't belong in front of vanity, shower and tub!!)

DH is making me this desk for our room- I'm going to paint it a glossy white and make a cute studying area for myself

We just got sod in our front yard so we are broke for awhile. But I just ordered bedding for the guest room. So some time in July (no time till after the 4th) will be painting it.

the very last items from our kitchen renovations just finished (toekick heaters and upgrading some crappy pipes) so I'm taking a break...!! Although renovations to our basement will start very soon, probably end of the summer. And we have to get more insulation blown in. Landscaping is always a struggle but we do have to get someone to look at two big trees in our front yard-- they look like they're dying
oh, and I'd love to get the house powerwashed.

Refinishing the bathroom vanities, then replacing the countertops and faucets. (already replaced the lighting and painted). Painting the exterior. Landscaping, dig a trench to bury the gutter spouts underground.
Future: Refinish kitchen cabinets and build a patio off the deck -
We have to replace our enormous deck. It's over thirty years old and very unsafe for LO. We are in the process of getting quotes for contractors and architects. I'll be so happy when it's finally done and we can enjoy the deck without having to worry about LO falling off!

I just finished this 2 weekends ago! Not quite as labor intensive as others posted, but I'm proud of myself for doing this. lol

@pui: Yea and thanks! I followed a tutorial on Pinterest and used contact paper. It wasn't hard. Just tedious with cutting each of the trefoils out.

We're trying to get our fence replaced! Its been such a headache just trying to get quotes. I called like 5 companies, got 3 to come out, and only 1 sent me a bid (its been almost 3 weeks). But that one hasn't even responded to questions I asked afterwards, so we're back to 0. I have someone coming out tomorrow that is hopefully more reliable, but if that doesn't work out I'm giving up until after baby comes.
Also, I need to find someone to do some yard cleanup and take care of the jungle behind our fence. Hoping my neighbor's gardener comes by soon so I can ask her.

I have to meet with our cabinet/vanity guy sometime this or next week to tell him what we want for all of our bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room and my command center.

Too much. We're buying my mother's house and moving in mid-July, so the list includes:
1. strip wallpaper from staircase and hallway.
2. paint upstairs bathroom, either paint existing vanity and medicine cabinet frame or replace.
3. paint E's room
4. paint room that will become upstairs laundry and master closet; redo flooring in that room, paint cabinets in there, redo old laminate countertops with butcherblock, have plumber come in to do laundry hookups (there's already water available, it was the kitchen of an inlaw suite)
5. paint dining room (can't decide on color)
6. paint two downstairs bedrooms for the older kiddos
7. redo basement (finished in the 70's or 80's, I want to redo the floor and paint the walls down there)Yeah.

Paint bathroom, fix some water damage and repaint living room/part of dining room, patch hole in wall in basement kitchen (mother in law apt), take about 50% of our junk to goodwill, organize garage, weed yard, put house on market.

Well the nursery is still a project in the making, but we're also redoing our living room slowly! We have a new couch (sectional) coming Saturday morning, so I bought new throw pillows and curtains to go with. Eventually I'd like to get new coffee and end tables, but I just don't feel comfortable spending the money on those right before LO gets here. Maybe as a Christmas gift to ourselves depending on how much the hospital bill is?

@Mrs.Someone: That's the worst - we have been pretty lucky in finding decent contractors to do the work we've hired out. We often get references from our neighbors, seems like the same few people work for everyone on the street!
@StrawberryBee: Yuck, I never appreciated how hard painting was until we painted our bathroom by ourselves. It took forever between picking colors, prep/taping, and trial/error figuring out which brush to use. And it doesn't look that good. Good luck - you guys will be pros after doing all those rooms!
@Zbug: Here's a pic. We used Flor tiles and two sided tape. I think it took them a couple of days to set because at first they still came up a couple of times, but haven't noticed that the past few days. Unfortunately DS figured out he can peel them up
But I love how they turned out, we don't decorate with a lot of color so these add a fun element to the house.

But the most current is we are getting our garage converted back to a garage. Inside it's still a garage, outside it's covered with siding and an ugly regular door. Not sure what the previous owners were thinking when they did that...

We are very close to finishing our patio, then we are going to put up a fence along one side to close it off, sooo excited to park my butt out there all.summer.long.

We just moved into a new apartment so we still have some loose ends. We need to buy and install curtains, get a new lock for our cellar compartment so that we can store all the extra stuff down there, hang the rest of the photos and decorate the kids rooms!

Carpet removal and replacement in the master, depopcorning the ceiling in the master (ugh), painting the master and putting together DDs big girl room before the baby arrives in February!
oh, and I'd love to get the house powerwashed.
