From newborn to 4 months my favorite was a ring sling. It's still my go to for quick easy ups but now I'm more likely to reach for my LennyLamb ergo.

@littleveesmommy: I put my 3 year old in the ring sling last week and was missing my ergo after 10 mins! The heavier they get the better it is

Up until 2 months it was my moby. Then my ring sling. But to be honest... right now I am struggling a lot with baby wearing! LO just isn't into it right now. I mean... she doesn't want to sit in the cart either. But when I have her in my sling she keeps popping her seat and trying to lean back... so I keep having to adjust her. And I was really loving my woven wrap for walks because I could wear LO on my back and she really likes being up there. But GETTING her up there is ridiculous. She just started fighting me when I wrap her (although once I'm done wrapping her she loves it...?!) and by the time I'm done I'm sweating and swearing and my hair is half pulled out and LO has a crappy seat anyways. Sigh. I keep hoping this is a phase and she gets less wiggly soon.

@Mae: I'm hoping it's just a phase too! I think right now A and B just want to be down on the floor moving around on their own, not attached to me. I'm sort of afraid of the day that they are both actually walking freely on their own because, um, how will I keep them from running in different directions? I was hoping we could wear them forever in public!

@twodoghouse: leashes? lol (but not really. you should actually consider that ) I don't know what Fiona's deal is. Because once she is actually up on my back she LOVES it. When we go for walks she just giggles and giggles. But trying to get her wrapped is insane lately. I think maybe she thinks it is funny when I swing her onto my back? So she gets excited and starts kicking and arching or something? But like... that is not helpful. And as for the sling when we're out... I dunno. She likes it way better than being in the cart. She's sort of shy about new people so she spends a lot of time burying her head on me. But I think she just gets bored after about 10 min and wants down. We (finally!) ordered a stroller and it will be here tomorrow. I'm sort of excited to have another option for bad wearing days...

Love my tula right now. I wear DD whenever I take big brother to the park and she seems to like it and usually falls asleep.

Ring slings!
I wore DD1 until she was 28 pounds and I was 33 weeks pregnant with DD2.

@prettylizy: I love the ease of my ring sling and my first one is a SBP French Twill, which was great for when DD2 was born in the middle of the summer. I actually have a SBP converted tablecloth ring sling made with Mahogany Tree of Life that I am itching to break out! But waiting until we are no longer in bulky winter wear. I have a feeling I'm going to like it a lot.

Ergo so far, but I just got my wrap today and I'm excited to try it!

First few months it was Moby all the time. Now at almost 20 months I do a back carry with a borrowed ergo (she was getting really uncomfortable for me in the beco gemini, though I loved that thing for over a year). Tempted to try a Tula but I don't know how much longer I will wear her. And I think I want a ring sling when we have another.
@Mae: could you try a SSC while she is in this phase- if c cooperates it's super easy to get her in and buckled. And she likes riding in my back. I can even do it by myself, in public. I feel like everyone has a friend they could borrow an ergo from.

Up until 3 mo we lived in the Moby. Now it's the Ergo front carry for anything longish and just got a ring sling for hip carries around the house or any quick errands. LO is almost 6 mo so I think we can try back carries soon? I'm intimidated with how to get her in it! I think she'll love it though.

I mostly use a woven wrap and do back carries. I have a ring sling for quick ups and downs. My son is 8 months, but only 12.5 lbs since he's a preemie, so we don't really use the Tula much since he is too little for it. We have to use a rolled up blanket under his bum and it ends up just being easier to use the ring sling.

@MenagerieMama: it was really challenging getting her into the back carry at first, twisting her around on my hip (watch YouTube videos for tips). Then suddenly, she started helping. I could sit on the end of the bed or squat in front of her and she walks over and puts her arms over my abounds so I can attach the straps. But that wasn't until like 17 months.

I love the woven wrap with my newborn. I never thought I'd like it so much. It just always seemed to be so much material but I love how well adjustable and versatile it is.

Hip carry. I'm trying to figure out what works for us now that she wants to be held all the time. The ring sling isn't so comfortable and I'm learning how to wrap but it's hard to learn with a toddler!
