I don't discriminate; if you wear a costume, you get candy. I do expect it to be a real costume, not a witch hat and a black dress. The more creative, the more candy (:

I start getting annoyed when kids half-ass their costumes. If you're 12-years-old and are wearing pajamas as your costume then I refuse to give you candy. If you really try and have a bad-ass costume then I'll let your age slide.

I think the last time I went was 7th grade. We went all out still.

I don't have a cut-off per se but I got really annoyed one year when a teenager came to the door with a cigarette in his hand. I purposely buy some really crappy candy for those kids who don't put any effort or pull a stunt like that, and I buy non-candy stuff for some of the really little ones (crayons or halloween pencils, erasers, etc)

I'd say 13 with no questions asked. Older than that, you got to have a fantastic costume - and some do!

I remember 8th grade being my last year, and I felt judged and too old! So yeah, about 13 like others have said!

I don't mind up through high school, as long as they are polite and doing it with the right intention (just having a good time, hanging out with friends, and enjoying the opportunity to dress up). I went all through high school and we always had a blast... I don't recall ever getting any strange looks or comments about being too old. But as someone else said, we went a bit later (around 8:00), when most of the little kids were done, and only to houses with lights on. And also, we were all good kids who were clearly not getting up to any mischief...

When I was in my first year of University, my friends and I decided to dress up and go trick or treating... most people LOVED that they were getting a group of people... even though we were 18 and not kids! We put a lot of effort into our costumes and I think we were polite to everyone.

At my home, we get about 60 kids each year... I think I've only seen a handful of older ones come by themselves with no effort to dress up. I actually don't mind too much unless they come late... I am done with trick or treaters by 8:30.

Id say 13 easy. I dont mind older though, as long as theyre dressed in a real costume. I put the effort in to buy the dang candy, you can out some effort into putting on a costume!

I just hate when kids dont say thank you.

Off topic, but everyone here sits at the edge of their driveway to pass out candy so there isn't any ringing door bells & saying trick or treat here! Kind of boring

As long as effort is put into the costume I guess I don't have one.
