1.) The job I have now - I write for a newspaper and you wouldn't believe the things people tell us and the things I've seen/covered.
2.) Worked at a nursing home - tons of interesting residents with fascinating stories to tell!

I cocktailed/worked the front door/cashiered at a "Premier Gentleman's Club" in New Orleans (aka strip club, lol). Classy place, for a strip club, and attracted it's fair share of visiting celebrities. (The two that immediately pop to mind are James Gandolfini and Jude Law--I smoked a cigarette with the latter on the back patio of the club!)

I used to work for the company that sells and makes Cutco knives. Most of the people who work there are pretty young college students so the dynamic definitely made for some interesting situations!

It's pretty much the only thing I miss about being a lifeguard, I always had great stories.
Of course, now that I'm a mom I also have great stories...

Working at a natural food store. I worked in the deli and had to wear an apron, and the people who worked grocery got to wear street clothes. They got a kick out of passing on the weirdos to me because I was young. Ah, the stories... I haven't thought about that in a long time! The best was the guy who was asking what sort of coffee would make the best coffee enema. Yeah.

@FutureMrsMcK: uh, you're officially my hero. Jude Law?! *drool
I worked in HR at a Social Work agency and now at a retirement community/nursing home. We know the dirt on everybody, it's crazy...

elementary school teacher. as i'm sure many of you parents are all too aware, some of the things kids say are just priceless. i think my favorite was when i was giving one little girl a literacy test that required her to give me a sentence with a word i provided. i gave her the word "fix," and she came back with, "my mom uses a lot of fix-o-dent." i had to stop the test because i was laughing so hard. couldn't help it.

I work in a jail. Oh the stories that come out of this place!!! People are strange... and stupid. But mostly strange.

College job when I was a cashier for a family owned pizza- cheesesteak shop. The restaurant was sandwiched between frat houses and located in a converted row house.
@Running Elley: I sold Cutco one summer too. My sales were horrendous, but I received so much respect during job interviews by having I Cutco on my resume.

My last job had a lot of Scientologists working there. (It was originally started by Scientologists and then was privately purchased and became a legit company.) (no offense.)

Ohhh I come home with lots of stories as a pre-k teacher. Like when a little girl asked me if I had a "(va)gina" like her mommy or when another kid stabbed an apple with a pencil basically pretending it was a voodoo doll because she was mad. My students are classified as "at risk" so there are a lot of interesting stories that come in everyday.

Working for a library system has had some crazy stories. My DH says I have the best work stories he's ever heard.

Oh gosh, being a social worker in child protection, I had loads of stories to tell, but my craziest stories came from the two years I taught 7th grade in a majorly disadvantaged community in Chicago. Those kids were nuts, absolutely nuts, but I loved them and they made me laugh every single day. They also made me cry nearly every day (never in front of them!) but that's a different story!

@matador84: Funny, just as you were typing that, I was saying the same! I've been out of that job for two years now and I think I am just now regaining my sanity!

@ladyfingers: that sounds like a scary job! A friend of a friend was trying to become a scientologist for awhile so I got to hear about some of what they're all about and all of the inside stuff. Definitely not my thing or anything I want to be around.

@Ree723: yes...it can be extremely draining some days but the kids keep me laughing!!

@artbee: yeah it was in Clearwater. The job/company itself was fine and the new owner wasnt of that... faith, but some of my coworkers were... Difficult to deal with. Beyond the normal "difficult." A couple of them had been involved in a big national church scandal years back, too. So that's always been a good story to tell: "I used to work with Scientologists."

Working in retail has given me tons of stories -- people can be really mean to sales people when they hate their lives or have nothing better to do! I think my best stories come from working at Bergdorf Goodman and getting to see and help celebrities, though. Janice Dickinson was hilarious and probably my best story.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I have too!! I worked there for a year and a half and was involved in management as well. Eventually it just wasn't sustainable but it was definitely quite the experience!

-barista at a small coffee shop... worked with a bunch of fun guys and a cool boss, though he was a little flirty. there weren't a lot of other girls who worked there either so, no cattiness or drama... lots of funny stories about the guys I worked with and crazy customers.
- worked as a registered nurse in 3 different city hospitals, in a few different settings/units... met a ton of people from all walks of life... there was always a story (or three) to tell at the end of a 12 hour shift.
- most interesting though was the job I had where my supervisor was sleeping with the "big boss" who was married with kids =/

I worked at a small alternative school for at-risk youth, grades 6-12. I spent most of my time in a classroom for kids with emotional/behavioral disorders...lots of stories. I regularly got cussed out, spit on, had to physically restrain students...definitely the worst job I've ever had. It was not a good fit for me.

I worked in the domestic violence division of the DA's office. Clients, attorneys, cops....lots of stories.
I work now in HR/Labor. The things people do/say and the things people look up on company computers (so.much.porn!!!)
