@autumnlove: Cheddar isn't boring, especially if it's sharp!!!

Usually just cheddar but if I'm in a fancy mood I might throw on some pepper jack!

Cheddar or Muenster, depending on what we have on hand.

Oh man, I totally use American cheese slices (you know the ones that probably contain no cheese and are wrapped in plastic? Yeah, those).
Sometimes I fancy it up with bacon and Muenster cheese. Or bacon, brie and apple slices. Mmmm.

@FutureMrsMcK: I use those too! cheese product pressed into the shape of cheese slices...
I did a brie and tomato grilled cheese and it was really yummy!

@mrs. wagon: I kind of love the way they melt...almost into liquid!

@FutureMrsMcK: @mrs. wagon: that's what I grew up eating! Haha.
Depends on what we have- pepper jack, and cheddar are what we usually use. Ive also used swiss and provolone a lot. Though my sister once used havarti and honey and mmm it was so good

It depends. Sometimes I want american. My favorite is with sharp cheddar and some kind of jam (apricot, usually). Mmmm, or with bacon and tomato. I love grilled cheese.

Extra sharp cheddar! Looove grilled cheese, wish it could make itself instantly!

Sharp cheddar or american normally.
Although, you haven't lived until you've had gruyere grilled cheese. OMG. *drool*

@FutureMrsMcK: Yep. Processed food FTW!
Since no one has said it, I'll totally go there: if I'm feeling extra crazy, I'll throw some Velveeta on, too. No shame.

I just used Brie and it was amazing! I have no idea if it was pregnancy safe but it was labeled as pasteurized!

We had grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner. Mine had wheat bread, Emmentaller, provolone and sharp cheddar. Garlic powder is my secret ingredient. These were truly the best grilled cheese sandwiches I ever had!
apricot / 483 posts
@Oceanis723: yup, same here. We generally keep sharp cheddar and havarti in the fridge. Nom nom.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
Sharp cheddar is usually the only kind of cheese we buy. I do love grilled provolone and tomato sandwiches!
@Mrs. Jacks: How exactly do you use the garlic powder in your concoction? DH and I do grilled cheese and tomato soup a lot so I am intrigued.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
good old "fake' cheese like Velvetta or I will do provolone or colby jack.
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: Did you make homemade soup or was it canned? Tomato soup sounds so good right now!
pomegranate / 3032 posts
I only buy american cheese from the deli counter - Land o lakes New Yorker - sliced thin!
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@tororojo: I just do a light dusting of garlic powder on the cheese before I put it in the pan. So we butter the bread on one side, layer on the cheese, tiny bit of garlic powder and top with buttered bread on top. Flip once and serve. Yum!
@autumnlove: I use the Pacific Organic tomato soup base from whole foods, I add a cup of rice, some dried sweet basil, fresh cilantro and few twists of pepper. Simmer until the rice is cooked. So delicious.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@FutureMrsMcK: girl, i totally use those american slices too shoo! haha!
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
Gruyere if I have it, or sharp cheddar or american slices, if I don't.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: Interesting, I'm totally gonna try that! I put garlic powder on most things; why not sandwiches? Your soup sounds way better than my canned tomato + a can of water, BTW.
pomelo / 5132 posts
Usually Colby jack. I will say that the Land o' Lakes American from the deli counter isn't as bad as Kraft...I used to eat slices all the time when I worked at a German butcher shop!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@lovehoneybee: I'm late but I want to try an apple and brie grilled cheese!
grapefruit / 4997 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: This sounds amazing! I will try garlic powder next time.
@Mrs. Train: I use whatever is in the fridge too.
