I'd like to go to a childbirth class, breastfeeding class, and a general baby care class. There's a store in my area that does cloth diaper classes once a month so I might go to one of those too.

Nada. I wish I would have taken a newborn class, but other than that I don't think they would have been too helpful.

Breastfeeding and a multiples class. We learned how to put on diapers, give baths, etc. from YouTube videos!

Childbirth
BFing
Bringing home baby
The last was the most helpful for DH but the BFing was super helpful for me.

I have a birthing class on Saturday. My hospital also offers breast feeding and child care classes, but I'm not sure if those would be worth my time.

Bradley class, and that's all we're doing. They cover breastfeeding and newborn care.

We just went to an infant care class. It was helpful since we hadn't been around many babies before.

Hospital based birth, newborn, breast feeding class that was fairly comprehensive. DH signed up for a dad's class but it got cancelled.

Just the Childbirth class, it was great but I didn't really use anything because my labor was only 2 hours long.

Childbirth basics, breastfeeding, and first aid/CPR. I learned a lot at all of them but I think it really helped DH know what to expect. He used a lot of what he learned to help me out and be supportive when I was in labor and then when I was learning how to breastfeed. We also took a short newborn basics clas in the hospital the day after she was born.

We went to the 2 day info class at our hospital - the best thing about that was the tour and also my husband getting tips on how to help me through the delivery (massage suggestions). I wish they covered CPR/first aid, swaddling, changing diapers in that but they didn't. We also took the breastfeeding class which was a little helpful.

My husband is taking a class for new dads about newborn care. We were planning to take the complete childbirth class, the one where you watch a birth video and learn breathing exercises and such, but a few people I've talked to said that they left at the first break because it was all stuff that they'd already learned online / in books.

I took a cloth diaper info class at a store.
Also a BFing class at the hospital.
that's it. The nurses showed us everything about how to care for E as a newborn (plus she was in the NICU for a week so we had a lot of supervision!). I took a free online childbirth class.

Childbirth

We did a prenatal class. It as run by a doula though and was all about natural methods and was very very odd. We basically wanted info about how to take care of a baby and we didn't get that! One week as an online BFing class and that was amazing. It and was so helpful and I'm still ebf at 10.5 months.

None! Just a hospital tour and a talk with our doula about what to expect during labor and delivery.

Childbirth and BF. Both were probably more useful for DH than for me. But him being more aware helped him to be more supportive of me so - worth it!

I'd spent way too much time researching what classes to take when I stumbled on a two day labor and delivery class at my local yoga studio which specializes in pre and postnatal yoga and such. It's taught by a certified childbirth instructor RN and NICU nurse who is also Lamaze certified. For $175, it covers everything in one course the hospital charges $165 in each separate class per topic. So, labor and delivery, medications, c-section, newborn care, and postpartum emotional and physical changes (not offered by the hospital). We will also add an infant cpr class, and that's it!

Labor & delivery (it was one two-hour class, very good), and I'll be going to a breastfeeding class in a few weeks.

@Leialou: we did a combined 10 week of birth, breastfeeding and baby care. It was for the end of pregnancy and over having a newborn. It was super useful!

I took the hospital "class." I had no idea about what to expect during labor and I found it really helpful as it was midwife led and she walked us through and we practicied different positions to manage pain and deliver.
The other thing that was interesting was that she had clay models showing how much it meant when you were dilated certain numbers of centimeters. Put it all into perspective!

We did Bradley, and I really can't say enough good things about it. I think it gets a bad rap for being hardcore and too militant about natural birth, but I'm sure that depends on the teacher. While definitely intervention free-oriented (we had a home birth), the class spent a lot of time on informed consent and the different procedures and complications that could arise. The main goal was explicitly "Healthy mom, healthy baby." It also covered a lot of newborn care and breastfeeding. AND I'm still in contact with the other women in the class, one of whom has a baby about 2 weeks older than mine.
But the main reason that I love the Bradley classes so much, is because it has so much information for the dads that I don't think most men would get otherwise. I think it really helped DH connect to the pregnancy, know how I was feeling, and how to really help in labor.
Yes, they're expensive, but when you add up all the hours and the benefits, it's so worth it IMO.

@Leialou: We are taking a general "first time parents" class through the hospital we are delivering at. It covers labour and delivery (natural and C-section), breastfeeding and basic newborn care.
My SO is interested in taking an Infant/Child CPR class that they have so we are going to do that as well.

Infant care/CPR class and breastfeeding class.
I passed on childbirth classes - I read a couple of books and watched birthing videos online. Turned out I needed a C-section anyway.
Also took a tour of the hospital - thank God we did b/c my water broke at night and we were told to go to the ER while on tour if it was after hours. Otherwise, we would have never known!
P.S. Congratulations to you!!!!

Infant care (the basics)
Birthing Class
Infant CPR & Safety
We also hired a car seat specialist to install our seat and show us car seat safety. We did it after he was born so he could show us how to do it with him, not on a doll. Of course this was easier for us since we're in NYC and walked to and from the hospital!

None! They were really expensive and in retrospect, i dont think i needed them.

We didn't take any classes. I would like to sign up for an infant/child CPR class though.

We are going to take the childbirth class offered by our OBGYN office. We will also do the hospital tour. DH is nervous about taking care of a baby so I looked up baby care classes today. Wondering if it is worth it to take a Breastfeeding class?

We did childbirth, breastfeeding, and baby care. I didn't learn a ton from any of them, but looking back, I'm glad we went.
nectarine / 2834 posts
CPR and breastfeeding. I think the breastfeedjng class would have been more helpful if I had my newborn with me! But it was informative and at least gave me an idea of what to expect.
nectarine / 2834 posts
I thought my prenatal yoga class was basically childbirth. The instructor was also a doula so she threw it tons of helpful tips during our practice. So it was like 2 for the price of 1!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@Leialou: Newborn care class, breastfeeding class, birth class, Infant CPR class, and hospital tour. We did the whole gamut, mostly because my husband hadn't spent a lot of time around babies and wanted so much information as possible.
I'm glad we did them all, although our newborn care class was horrible and I wish we'd done it at the hospital instead of a birth center....the instructor was incredibly biased against c-sections and wouldn't go over post c-section care (despite the fact that it was listed as something she'd go over!), and since I ended up with an emergency c-section it sucked to have missed that!
