@mrbee: Thanks! I am actually the only Jennifer at my place of work right now, for the first time in my life.

I'm Kristan - with an "a." I've never really had an issue with a fact that I always have to spell it for people, or that people always assume it must be with an "e" or an "i." I also like that the name itself isn't too common. I've only ever met one other person who spells their name with an "a" - I actually went to school with her!

Mine is Charlene which I think of as a common name. Although many people throughout the years have commented that it's an uncommon name!

@MsMini: I'm an '83 baby. Half my friends are Jennifer. It's a pretty name!
My names not too common but not too uncommon either. And it can be spelled two ways.

I put "other" because my name isn't unusual but it isn't necessarily common. It's an old lady name, I think.

I have a somewhat common name spelled in the usual way. It certainly not unusual.. But as far as popularity it peaked in the 50's. What's annoying is its VERY similar to a much more common name so people often call me by the wrong name which is annoying.

I voted unusual. I've never met anyone with my name, although I know there are others. My name is Tana and the way it is pronounced it rhymes with banana. Most of the time people pronounce it or spell it wrong on the first try!

Unusual...so unusual, if I posted it here, and someone IRL saw it, they'd know it was me. I don't think anyone else has it.

I voted other. My name is certainly a real name and spelled in the "usual" way, but it's not very common at all (at least in people under 70). It peaked in the 1920's I believe.

I voted that I have an unusual that is unusual. It is a real name but not common at all! I love it Though people do have a tendency to spell it wrong and confuse it with another (popular) name that isn't really similar at all.

I'm an Andrea. Easy to spell, though strangers always pronounce it wrong (I'm a plain old Ann-dree-uh, and most people call me An-dray-uh at first).

@Leialou: I've been pronouncing your name incorrectly in my mind all this time!! I thought it rhymed with Donna!

I have a japanese first name so it's not common in the US at all but in Japan it's very common.

@MsMamaBear: now you have me so curious
Mine is pretty unusual, but it's not "weird", I get comments on it all the time that it's s beautiful name. I love my name and definitely would never change it. There are a few different ways to spell it but it's one if those names where one spelling isn't necessarily more common. I usually spell it out of habit so people don't have to ask. But I love having a different name. I think I have met only about 5-10 people in my life with my name.

@chopsuey119 it's ok, I'll forgive you this one time

I'm a Sarah born in the mid-80s...there were 3 of us just in my group of high school friends.

Mine is unusual, but I don't think it's weird. It's a combination of my mom's name and both of my grandmothers' names, so it sounds like a name. It's also hyphenated with Joy, so I got the weirdness of a hyphenated first name going on, too.
@msmamabear: Me, too! If you google my first name, I'm the only person who comes up.

I voted usual name that's unusual, but it's just a not-so-common name that's spelled in the common way.

I voted other. My name is/was fairly common in the Black American community (it was a popular name given in the 70s/80s). And there are so many different ways I've seen it spelled.
If I'm around a lot of Black people, I can usually find some other women with my name. But everywhere else, my name is uncommon. I've been the only one with my name at all of my jobs and at grad school & college.

I'm Jackie spelled Jacque. People I e-mail through work think I'm a guy!

I have a sort of unusual name, but it’s just a name (i.e., not a word like Apple, River or Brooklyn), and I don’t think it’s a very weird name. It’s just not a very common name. It’s constantly confused with the male version of the name, so it’s generally mispronounced and misspelled when people first meet me, or read my name aloud (so, so annoying). LO’s name will be straight forward and easy to spell – in a non kreatyve way.

I have a common name that is spelled two ways so everyone always spells my name wrong
My last name is actually an unusual name that is a regular word.

I'm an Ashley born in 1984. Super common and the most common spelling too. My husband has a pretty common name too - Alex.

My "American nickname" is a common name (Annie), but my Vietnamese name is an uncommon name with an uncommon spelling. There's another girls' name that is very similar, but has a different meaning and spelling.

I'm a Jill - not a Jillian. Yes, I got asked a thousand times if I was a Jillian. I like my name and its simplicity. I also like that it wasn't super popular when I was a kid. Or today, for that matter.

I voted other as my name isn't common but it isn't unusual either.

My name is a common ethnic name in the country of origin but not in the US or where I currently live. I really think people would know it was me if I posted my name, which is why I never put it online, ever!

Jessie, pretty common, however at the time being a "just jessie' was very uncommon in a decade that Jessica ruled the world. I love it , but growing up I hated having a nickname where teachers would just assume my fullname was jessica.
I was announced at both college graduations by the wrong name, I guess Jessie is just too weird for some people to understand as a stand alone name!

Mine is somewhere in between. It's not very common, and I've only met a small handful of people with my name in my entire life... but it's still just a name that can be found in most baby name books.
