What material rug do you find is best for a dining room? Wool? Sisal? A dhurrie style? And are light colors a disaster?

we have a terracotta wool rug from PB (scroll pattern) in the dining room. I love it. It cleans up so easily after LO. But so does our dog

We have a wool rug in our sunroom, which is where we eat 9 times out of 10. It's a mix of light and dark. Holds up pretty well with messy LO. It sheds a bit though! So if you have dark hardwood or tile, you'll notice the shedding a lot more.

We don't have one yet but are planning to get an indoor/outdoor rug since LO makes such a mess.

Indoor outdoor from Ballard. I needed a huge rug and I just couldn't justify the cost for a backed wool rug.
I have two wool dhurrie rugs in the living room and bedroom that I got from overstock, also huge, and under $300.

@hilsy85: I've been looking for my dining room too! Do you buy it large enough to accommodate the leaf? We only have the leaf in occasionally.... Indoor/outdoor is a good call.

@hellobeeboston: hmm I'm not sure actually! We don't have a leaf in ours...I have just read that it should be large enough so that when chairs are pulled out they still remain on the rug.
