Spanish. And I took some in college too. I teach in an area with a high population of ESL kids (7 of my 18 kids speak Spanish as their first language). They've taught me way more than my high school/college classes ever did.

Spanish and Chinese (mandarin)

I took French in high school and German in college. I don't use them much these days, but I definitely have in the past! I studied abroad in Germany, and I've traveled a fair amount and used them then.

Latin and German. Both very, very basic.

My mother tried to convince me when I was 13 to sign up for Japanese instead of German. I refused, thinking it was dumb.

I ended up living in Japan for 3 years. Mum was right, althoguh I did work a summer in Germany

Spanish but I don't remember a ton.

French. I had to take it starting in elementary school and stopped sometime in highschool. I don't remember very much!

Mandarin

French - we start learning it in elementary school, and have to continue taking it through our first year of high school, and then you can choose whether or not to continue on with it. I took it one extra year and then stopped.

I don't remember very much of it. Looking back, I wish I'd continued to study it because I was always a high 90s french student, and I'm sure it would have been useful to me now.

Latin. I loved it at the time. Not very useful now.

Haha, Mr. Bee, I studied Latin as well, 4 years! I don't remember a thing and it didn't help me at all with my SATs, because we learned it like a language, not to strengthen words!

Spanish...it did help a little when I used to work in a restaurant where most of the kitchen staff and busboys spoke Spanish. Now that we're living in Asia, I've only used it once. One of the nurses at the hospital in tokyo where I had dd1 spoke Spanish but not English.

French! I spent 2 weeks living with a family in France my sophomore year and it was a great experience!

Wagon Sr. took Russian (the only offering at his high school at the time) and it's so cool when he can speak or understand things! He wants to get a textbook and start studying it again.

I took French... Barely remember anything now! I should've taken Spanish!
