Our 3 year old is sick right now. It makes my heart hurt that I can't be with her to comfort her (I'm working). Apparently she came out of her room after her 30 minute (sigh) nap today just sobbing for mommy. 
Daddy got her to stop crying but it still makes me so sad when I hear she's sad and wants me and I can't be there.
What makes you sad with your kids?

For me, its when I see her get blanked by other children (hang up from my own childhood). It kills me.

It makes me sad when she's sick and I can't do anything else to make her feel better. It also upsets me when I see another kid take something from her and she just stands there wondering what happened.

@Cherrybee: same. She's just 2 so I don't think her and her playmates even notice when they are snubbing one another bc they're just being 2, but I get so anxious about it. For her birthday party this year, I internally freaked out worrying that no one would show up, even though we had 10 kids confirmed. It is crazy, I know.

Every day he loses it at daycare drop off. I cried in my car this morning after a particularly awful drop off.

Yes, it's awful when they're sick and there's not much you can do.
I hate it when she has a defeatist attitude about something. Sometimes she goes "I Can't do it". I hate it and tell her she can do anything she puts her mind to! It doesn't happen often, but when it does it hurts my heart a little.

My oldest has this really sad cry she does very rarely. She has quite the timing because she only does it like if someone says a joke or something. But holy cow it's so sad. She gets a giant pout and slowly her eyes fill with tears and its like she's trying to hold it back and then giant tears fall with no sound. Not sure where she learned it ha, but my heart breaks!!!

Ugh, right now with Logan it's that he won't nurse.
But in general, when they are sick. Or when they want something and you want to let them have it, but they can't for some reason. When Xander was in the hospital last year, he started to feel better on day 2 and really wanted food, but he wasn't allowed to eat anything. It was so heartbreaking to tell him no. And then he just wanted to go home and we couldn't. Ugh, sick kids crush me.

Basically anytime he's sad but there's nothing I can do about it (unless it's ridiculous toddler-ness, such as when he's crying that he can't have a cookie even though he is currently eating a cupcake 
). I went back to work full time a couple of weeks ago, so he's been at daycare more (was two short days a week, like 9-4, and now it's 3 days a week from 8-5:30). Last night we were reading a story and talking about how the main character was feeling. And I asked S how he was feeling. He said "sad." I was surprised since he'd been in a good mood all evening, so I asked him why and he said, "I miss mommy and daddy." That was super hard to hear.

It makes me sad when she is super clingy to me. Which is like, almost always anyways but especially after any time I go out without her for an hour or two. I know mommy preference is not uncommon, but it makes me feel like she's insecure about me coming back or something by the way she acts. I wish she just had so much fun without me she didn't even realize I was gone.

@Cherrybee: same - when I see him try to play with other kids and they ignore him it makes me want to sob.
A little while ago he was trying to get involved with some other kids playing in a play house and one of them gave him a pretty solid push in the chest and he fell right over on his back - it took my pregnant self a lot of deep breaths not to start bawling in the middle of the soft play centre!

With my three-year-old, it's how she constantly talks about her friends back home and how she is going to do all these things with them "after England".
My baby is still only young, but he gets so sad when he is sick, bless him.

When she cries like she's in pain and I don't know why. The number of times I have said "Maybe it's teething??" ....

Lo fell at daycare yesterday and took a chair down with her. She was hurting and sad yesterday, and I would have been too.
Also, I hate when she asks to stay home from daycare and we can't because DH and I both need to be at work. That is such a rough feeling for all 3 of us.

DS goes to the nursery at church when I have Bible study and church - normally he loves it, but last week he kept crying so I had to pick him up. Then he burst into tears as soon as I dropped him off on Sunday - it broke my heart because he's normally so happy to be there.
And he's been knocking on our bedroom door and saying 'dada?' (DH is out of town) that makes me weepy, too.

Basically only major injuries, and night terrors. Today DS cut his chin open and that made me really sad for him. But usually the crying for mommy is just tiring because it is all.the.time.

When he tries to play with other kids and they ignore him or don't let him play--he especially likes to try to play with groups of older kids, who understandably don't always want a 3 year old following them around.

When LO can't do things other kids can. He doesn't realize it much yet, but he will. It makes me sad that I have to make tough choices that will impact him all his life, at 2.5

If she starts to cry in public, she gets super embarrassed if someone notices. She buries her head into me and does a silent sob. I don't know why it makes me so sad too, but it does! I just want to hug her and take her embarrassment away

@mediagirl: DD (10 months) had the stomach flu a couple weeks ago. Everytime she vomitted she would cry...that hurt my heart. She didn't understand. Even worse, DH and I had the flu too, she was such a sweetie and willingly let my mom cuddle her all day. Normally mama is all she wants, but she graciously let me rest.
When she has ear infections and cries SO hard she flings her body out stuff as a board...I know she's in serious pain--that makes me sad too.

Seeing my older sick and cuddly and just wanting me. All week. He literally sat on my lap cuddling for an hour while I worked on my computer today. Didn't ask for anything. Just sat with my snugging.

My LO has his first cough, and he is so sad! He will cough, and then make a little cry and come to me for a hug. I feel so bad for him each time!
