I'll do my best to raise my children in a more functional home environment, but I'm sure they'll still fault me for something - who doesn't blame their parents/ upbringing for anything?

My number one thing is to lose the vanity... I was raised by a mother who wouldn't leave the house without her "face" on and I was pressured to wear make up and get contacts and "do' my hair and it took me a LONG time to be comfortable leaving my house with no makeup and my hair in a ponytail!! My daughter will feel beautiful with or without make up and with or without her hair done, that is one of my goals!

@erinpye: so true. And letting go of parent blame (when appropriate) can be so liberating.
Now, I get to make all of my own mistakes, yikes. But damn it, they won't be the same ones- new and different ways to ruin my child, lol
