Other than English, what languages do you speak? What languages will you encourage your LO to learn?
I studied French in high school and to get my masters had to prove translation fluency, but that's it. I know that DH really wants LO to learn Spanish when she's older. Living in CA, Spanish would be very useful!

I used to speak pretty fluent Portuguese, but haven't spoken it in 10 years so have lost most of it. DH speaks fluent french though and will probably speak to our LO a bit when he remembers to!

I speak Tagalog (Filipino) and some Swedish. I can say a few things in Korean and can sound out written words in Hangul but don't know what it means.
I almost forgot that I studied Spanish in school ... but yeh, it's been awhile!

My Spanish is ok, it used to be a heck of a lot better when I was living at home. DH is fluent in Mandarin and I really hope he teaches her some. I would love if she could speak English, Spanish, and Mandarin.

I have a degree in Russian, but I don't speak it as well as I used to. I studied french for six years in grade school, and was pretty fluent when I graduated. Sure wish I hadn't thrown that away.

Vietnamese (I was only allowed to speak it to my parents, no English allowed!), and very basic Spanish.
I speak Vietnamese to LO when my mom is around and she only speaks Vietnamese to LO, so I hope she will be bilingual!

I speak decent Spanish and would like LO to learn it--comes in pretty handy in TX! Would love to have her in a Spanish language preschool program.

Conversational Cantonese and Mandarin. I understand Hokkien, but only know a handful of spoken words. So weird! I also took years of Spanish, but my verbal skills are lacking. I do alright reading though. I also can get by with some Khmer.

Fluent in Cantonese, mandarin & Fujianese. Passable in Spanish.
M will be learning Cantonese initially then mandarin.

Mandarin. Some Taiwanese, though my comprehension is a lot better than my actual speaking. Spanish is decent enough to get across what I need.

I speak broken Cantonese with my parents. DH knows Vietnamese. Our LO will only know the two languages from listening to his grandparents because we don't know them well enough to teach him.
