Hawthorne and heathcliff. Clearly, my husband thinks I'm insane and would never let me name kids that. Sigh, its probably for the better. But little twin boys named that would be so cute! But probably destined for a lifetime of teasing...
What names do you like that are strange but you wouldn't use?

I love the name Harper but Harper Hoffman sounds weird. Plus the Beckhams already used it for their daughter.

Gertrude for a girl and call her Gertie or Trudie - love it! I live old lady names! Althea, Frances, Nanette.

@Ginabean3: We have a similar issue! We both love Harper, but our last name is an "H" name, and it just doesn't sound right together. Bummer!

i guess i also couldn't pick it because all my relatives (chinese) would have so much trouble with it hehe. they already have enough trouble with LO's name: asher! the 'er' trips them up.... it becomes "ashah!" not that i mind much

I've always loved the name Oona, but DH was firm on not using it for future kids. So we named one of our cats Oona as a compromise.

Loden! I really wanted to use this for a little boy. DH said it sounds too much like Logan and it sort of rhymes with our last name.

Anakin! Huge huge Star Wars fan, and before the prequels came out no one knew Anakin was Vader's real name. I was 100% going to use it at that point. Now DH says we can't because it's so well known.
I love Daenerys too, but we can't think of a good middle name with it, and DH is iffy on it.
Also, Helena, Oswin, Liliana (may convince DH on that one), and some others I can't think of. All those are mine that DH vetoed.
We have ZERO boy names we can agree on at this point, so really hoping we come up with something before Jan just in case! The main problem is he has a huge family tradition of using Ray as a middle name, which I hate, so we're limited on what sounds good with it.

Also a huge fan of Boheme (may use this as a middle some day but it's too crazy for a first), Reverie (love it so much!), Serenity, and India.
We seriously considered Castle for a boy, but I'm afraid it's just too over the top.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: aww yay! So glad someone is going to use rory for a boy! I know two really nice rory's in real life-- a sweet 1st grader and a nice young man.
I think we will end up naming LO#2 Jesse Luke D--------. Not 100% yet!

@mrsjazz: Leelou was my DH's number one pick for a girl but I vetoed it because of our last name. It would sound like we took it straight out of the Fifth Element.
I love Rory for a boy. It was my Dad's nickname. DH shot it down before we knew we were having a girl.

I love the name Conner for a boy but it sounds a little too "matchy-matchy" with our last name, which also starts with a "C". There are a few girl names that I like but they are either someone I know who I don't like or someone in our family already has that name
