We have the natursutten 100% rubber pacifier. I love the idea of it, no plastic, no ability to "vacuum suction" baby's face, approved by orthodontics, 100% natural... but LO can't keep it in his mouth on his own! And after just two months the rubber became sticky and lint tends to stick to it.. um gross!!
I researched some more non-plastic ones, and decided to try the gumdrop pacifier from amazon.
What does your LO use and does he/she like it? Can they keep it in their mouth (if they're young)?

Neither of my kids really took to the pacifier; the only ones they seem to like are MAMs.
In The Happiest Baby on the Block, the author gives a tip on how to get newborns to keep the pacifier in their mouths. When you first give it to him, pull on it gently so he has to suck hard to keep it in his mouth. Consistently doing this teaches them to suck harder whenever its about to fall out. This trick worked with both my babies; once I got it in their mouths, they wouldn't lose it.

Mine doesn't love them, but the only ones I can get him to take on occasion are the Nuk's. I try to at least stick with the silicone ones, I figure they are better than the rubber ones.
I second the Happiest Baby on the Block way of training them to keep it in their mouths.

I use the Soothies that they sell in the hospitals. I like the fact that it's all one piece so I don't have to worry about part of it breaking off. She holds onto it, but there are sometimes when it wakes her up if it falls out when she's sleeping.

At first we used gumdrop. But DD can't keep that in by herself and it started to get hair and lint attached like no other.
We use the mamm(sp?)... she likes it but there is plastic.

MAM is all that my son would take. It was great because there are different sizes so babies of different mouths styles can find one that works for them. I also like the styles of face shields. We like MAM air the best.

She's been on Tommee Tippee sine birth and at 6 weeks still going strong. I second @ Pelikila that they come in different sizes. We use the TT bottles so it's a nice dovetail

He used Soothies too. He liked it when we were at the hospital so we just kept using it. Plus I got 5 of them for free at the hospital.

Gum Drops, which is similar to Soothies (nipple shape the same, same company) but the part that touches the face isn't completely round and DS liked it better.

My LO prefers Nuk over Soothies. He couldn't keep the soothies in his mouth but Nuk seems to do the trick.

My daughter won't take the Soothies. We've only tried MAM so far and she seems to like them a lot better.

We use the Gum drops, but LO has a hard time keeping it in her mouth and it does get a lot of lint on it!

My daughter will ONLY use Nuks. We have about 10 lying around the house. The funny thing is, is that she hates Nuk bottles. She will only drink from the Avent Natural bottles. Everything else seems to just flop around in her mouth.

@wildcardinside: that's soooo odd that you'd say this. My son is the same. I bought him a nuk bottle & he hated it! So I never got him nuk pacis because I assumed he'd hate those too.
He loved gumdrops and Soothies.
But then my mom picked up a pair of nuk pacis on clearance and he tried & loved them. Yet hates their bottles.
Weird kids....
Now he takes nuk, gumdrop and Soothies. Soothies are the favorite though.

We tried Soothies since we got them in the hospital when he was born. He didn't like them much. He loves his Avent ones. I micro steam every couple of days.

When she was first born it was soothies, but now at 4 months she loves Nuk. She keeps them in way better than she ever did the soothies.

Avent-it is the only one DS will take; however I fear he is going to be a thumbsucker like DD.
