I'm amazed at the things people will buy for their kids! I just want to know which ones you think are silly.

I know a lot of people like them, so this isnt an insult to anyone who does, but those Wubbanubs things. The stuffed animal that hangs off of a pacifier. I cant stand looking at a baby with this stuffed animal looking like its hanging out of its mouth. LOL .dont know why, theyve always bothered me

I've seen baby helmets and knee pads for crawlers/early walkers. I think that's way overprotective!
ETA: I guess this isn't really popular - I don't know anyone who's actually purchased this kind of thing!

I know there are really popular; but I really don’t like the trend of big, single flower headbands on baby girls. I just think they look super trendy and dated.

@yoursilverlining: Agreed.
@plaidpants: Me too! Clearly someone is buying them though. There is a kid in our church that wears one of the helmets, but it's because he bruises dangerously easy, especially around his head.
I guess I should add one. Beaba Babycook... or any other appliance marketed just for cooking baby food.

@yoursilverlining: YES!! i was actually kind of relieved when I had a boy so family members wouldnt buy them for the baby, because I'd feel badly not using them.
@mrsmenow: i ended up returning mine!= (and not because of the recall). Dude looked so uncomfortable.

@yoursilverlining: I agree too! I was so glad I had a boy and wouldn't have to subject him to them.
@mrsmenow: We bought one and I totally regret it. He used it a handful of times and now it's just taking up space.

Haha! I'm gonna be a silly mommy! Got the Bumbo already and. IDK how "designer" you consider designer, but I do like cute clothes and all sorts of headbands for LOs!
I've never seen helmets for crawling, but I've seen helmets for head shaping?

I think Sophie the giraffe is cute, but too expensive for my taste! I wouldn't think it was silly for others to have it though, I think if I had extra money I'd MAYBE think about it...but probably not. lol

@Weagle: OMG I love my Beaba! I know I could make baby food with the pots/pans and food processor I already have but it would be about 5x the clean up. Love this little contraption so much - it's one of my favorite items.

@LivsMama: my LO loves her wubbanub! The stuffed animal adds some weight so it stays in her mouth better and if it does slip out she is sometimes able to finangle it back into her mouth on her own (shes 5 weeks) since there is so much more of it for her to grip. We're fans!

Wipes warmers. I know tons of people LOVE them but they just seem silly to me...I guess I'm a bad Mama for not caring if his wipes are cold
persimmon / 1180 posts
I definitely agree with the designer clothes and huge flower headbands. Babies grow way too fast to be spending that kind of money on clothes and I wouldn't want my baby to have something that looks like a small satellite dish on her head. (We're having a boy, so no worries there!)

@FutureMrsMcK: I agree with you on this. What do you do when you aren't home then? Baby is just going to get cold wipes all the time.

I have two wipes warmers -- my hands! A tip from the baby nurse at the hospital: before you start changing the diaper, scrunch up a couple of wipes in your hands to warm them. Then, they're not so shockingly cold on baby's bum.

Peepee teepee! I got it gifted at my baby shower and it's so ridiculous. Totally doesn't even work!
blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts
@banana: Haha - totally agree - the force of the spray renders them totally useless.
bananas / 9973 posts
@banana: LOL! Okay, here is one item I think is so silly too!
@FutureMrsMcK: I'm registering for one, but not planning to actually use them for warming, just storing in a nice plain conatiner that can be left out on the dresser instead of some brand box.

@Bao: I thought this too. Then we bought it for her. She looooooves it. So much. I bought it for her for our long trip to Ohio. She loves the squeak and that made her smile when she was having a rough moment.

Baby designer clothes/shoes for sure! And I'm probably very much in the minority but I do not understand why people like bouncer seats so much- we have two different kinds because everyone told us we had to have them and DD hates them more than anything.

i dont think they are silly but I'm not a fan of big flower headbands and I dont understand wipe warmers. I think the baby's butt is warm all day in the diaper and a nice cool wipe actually soothes them a bit.

I'm not big on the wipe warmers either, but I'm guilty of flower headbands, bumbo, and overpriced clothing (First child syndrome I expect!)
coconut / 8498 posts
@JessicaMcB: LO never liked the bouncer. She wanted to be flat on her back or sitting straight up. Luckily, we were able to borrow one from a friend and didn't waste our money.

@Mrsbells: @prettylizy: Love my wipe warmer!

Shoes before they walk. I think because I hate shoes and think they're so uncomfortable I could never put them on my lo before she actually needed them.
coconut / 8498 posts
@artbee: I don't really like shoes on LOs before walking either, but I know no other way to keep her feet warm when we go out now that it's cold. Socks are off in seconds, and the shoes help a little (she usually gets those off, too). Though, if we lived in FL like you, she would never be in shoes!

Shopaholic: oxo makes a good plain box for wipes. I replaced my warmer as soon as I found that. Amazon sells it. I liked the warmer for the newborn stage but I could never remember to wet the sponge and DS eventually had to get used to a room temperature wipe.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@Weagle: yes cold weather makes sense because thats practical. And I think its fine when others do it for style, I think baby shoes are adorable. I'm just lazy I think.
eggplant / 11824 posts
@Weagle: We have these little boots and they stay on LO's feet (she kicks her legs and feet a lot!). They are really warm too.

@yoursilverlining: I have some little Minnetonka boots on the way, but if they don't work I'm getting some Robeez booties!

Sophie! It's a dog toy. But it must be laced in baby crack or something, because they sure do love it!

For sure the pee pee tee pee. I was gifted one and never even opened it.
