I know there are so many options available....did you do Maternity21? Harmony? Verifi? Why did you choose that test?

i didn't do any extra testing. it was offered, but i didn't feel the need. i got pregnant at 34 and turned 35 a few months later. Had there been something that showed up on the NT, i likely would have done more testing then, but it came back fine.

@californiadreams: I have never done the 35+ blood tests before...always just NT scan and the blood test that goes along with that. Unfortunately my last pregnancy, we picked up on a downs marker at the anatomy scan so then we had to do more bloodwork....which was all fine in the end, but next pregnancy (since I'm already 35 and would be 36+ at delivery) I'll just do the early blood work.

@winniebee: personally I'd rather be safe than sorry and that's why I choose to do testing.

@winniebee: that makes sense and i would likely do the same in your situation. I just didn't see the point in doing extra testing simply because i turned 35. Maybe if i was closer to 40....

@californiadreams: With my first pregnancy I did not do blood testing before the NT scan. The NT scan was not good. I did the blood draw for Mat21 right after that appointment and then had to wait another couple of weeks for the results. It was nerve-wracking!
I did QNatal at 10 weeks this pregnancy and had the results in advance of the NT scan. QNatal is what my practice offered. I believe it's sequenom's MaterniT21 test that was purchased by Quest Diagnostics.

My Harmony test got messed up for some reason (if I remember correctly). I did another test, and it went fine. I did not do an amnio or anything more invasive because my test results came out great. That said, between me and DH LO has a ton of genetic diversity.

With my 2nd I didn't do any testing. I only had an anatomy scan. With my 3rd, I had the Maternity 21 test. But really I did it to find out the sex early and insurance covered it.

Last time I had amnio, this time I'll have CVS. I don't care what the %'s say - I need a hard yes or no. Plus there are soooo many things that would not turn up on a blood test. Also I'm 39 and would definitely terminate for several issues so I just don't feel comfortable taking chances.

The genetics counselor said materniti21 was the best option with my insurance compared to the similar tests so I went with that. I didn't get amnios or the other genetic tests.

@Bee_McGee: I had CVS with my first pregnancy. It wasn't bad at all. Just don't look at the needles.

I can't remember if it was Harmony or Verifi, but I did early blood screens, the NT scan, and an Amnio.

Verifi, it was covered, non invasive and I wanted to know the sex early. We did not have any risk factors.

Verifi was the blood test our office offered. I think the 3 you listed are similar, just "brand name" & either the Dr or insurance company will dictate what is used/covered.

MaterniT21. The counselor at the center said that they tests are all pretty similar and recommended this one for insurance purposes.

I did Verifi because my insurance offered that one. I also did the NT ultrasound and will be doing the 2nd trimester blood screen as well.

Nothing - I didn't even do the NT test. I figured whatever happened had already happened and wouldn't affect how we went forward, so I didn't want the stress.
