She will need a pair of sneakers, a pair of dress shoes, and probably some boots for winter. I try not to have a ton of shoes for her.

DD2 will need socks and a pair of warm booties since I don't put shoes on my babies when they are tiny.

I buy two pairs of the exact same sneakers for every day, plus a pair of lined crocs. I might get something else, we'll see.

No idea. She hates shoes so fall shoe shopping should be tons of fun.

I bought two pairs of Nikes, one for each of the kids, from the Nordstrom's anniversary sale.

I'm hoping her brown boots from last year will still fit this year. I got them at last year's anniversary sale and they still look brand new. Her brown boots from carters were about 1/2 the cost but were wrecked within a month of wearing them - not worth the money and I love carters!

I also got pink Mary Jane shoes from Stride Rite. They are sturdy and good for school and can be worn with dresses and pants. Also she just loves these shoes (we've bought this style ever since she was 18 months). Best of all they are easy for her to put on herself.

We also got some new rain boots. And I'll probably get a pair of glitter Puma sneakers from this year's anniversary sale. And that should be good enough for the rest of the year and we won't have to buy shoes again until next summer

These in brown and black. Probably some boots and some ankle booties. I don't like the look of tennis shoes on my daughter. I also bought a pair of t strap clogs in a couple sizes this summer so she could wear them with socks this fall. I tend to go crazy with shoes. But they make such cute shoes for kids!!!

I bought them sneakers when a local Stride Rite went out of business, and I bought Livie and Luca and SKR Mary Janes on Prime day. That should hold them through the fall. I'd like to get DD1 boots, but I'm not convinced they're necessary even in the winter down here.

DD1 will get a pair of sneakers, a pair of riding-style boots to wear with her dresses, and a pair of dressy shoes. She has her eye on a pair of pink Vans with Andy Warhol bananas on them, which aren't the most practical sneakers but they are darn cute. She already has a pair of sized-up rainboots that double as snow boots with extra socks.

Bumping this because I am hunting for new shoes for my girl! What kinds of boots do you buy for a toddler? Are the Ugg style boots practical for wearing all day at daycare?

Also, do you put socks on with those adorable mary janes? We will probably do leggings and dresses all winter...do socks look funny?

I swear dressing my boy was so much easier!

@Mrs. Lion: When it's cold, we wear socks or tights with Mary Janes. I think it's super cute.

@Smurfette: Are the boots okay for running and playing? not too heavy?

@fancyfunction: I am having a difficult time finding something like that for my son, a dressier sneaker...do you have any brand ideas that might work? I tried Geox, but they're still very athletic looking.

@looch: I wish I did. I haven't really started looking yet but if I find something good I'll let you know!

@Mrs. Lion: I usually put socks with leggings and Mary Janes- tights are cuter but I feel like they are more slippery and we take shoes off inside. But we do both really. I just try to put the cuter socks on those days.

I'm not sure what shoes still fit but I imagine she will need new sneakers, comfy Mary Jane type shoes, and winter boots. my sister already got her a pair of sparkly cowboy boots so I think we are set in the "totally impractical but she will love them" department.

DS has wide feet so we always stock up a few sizes ahead whenever there's a Stride Rite sale or when I have rewards. He usually gets 2 pairs of sneakers in each size (one for each car). This fall he has some Saucony and Stride Rite sneakers. Always Velcro strap. But DS is only 23 months.

It stays hot here until October so he can wear his current closed toe sandals (I bought them a size up for the summer) and at Christmas we will probably ask Grandma for rain boots for the winter. LO2 will just wear his brother's hand me down Zutano booties.

I am changing my first answer. I went to old navy last night and bought all their boots in my daughters size and then the black ones in my sons size. Can't wait for fall!!! We still need some cute church shoes and some slip on tennies for my son. And snow boots for both

I have a couple of pairs of See Kai Run shoes I got on deep discount (about $15 each) - One sneaker and one silver t-strap. I will also need to get a pair of boots.

Winters here are long and cold. We dress for cooler weather for a good 7 months of the year (and the rest is stinking hot) so we will likely go through another size by the time winter is over.

I bought H these shoes for the fall. She needed a new pair of sneakers anyway, and she's thrilled to have running shoes like Mommy (her exact words). They are Surprize by Stride Rite.
