So, assuming this baby sticks, and Xander moves into our current guest room, I'm wondering what I should do with the stuff that's in there! Specifically the queen-sized bed & mattress and a media stand with TV. We don't have another bedroom we can put those things in... Would you just get rid of it all? Store some of it in the basement in case we could use it later? Suggestions??

@Adira: I'd sell it. If you needed those items in the future, you could always re-purchase. I'd always rather have the $ than store things personally. But you might have more $ and more storage space than me

Hmm....do you plan on moving in the near future to a larger place? (with more bedrooms) That you could possible have a guest room again? If not, I would try and sell it on Craigslist!

We just got rid of it all. My parents are going to take the bed and I'm trying to pass the TV onto my sister.

Based on your other thread - what if you decide to put them together in the same room a year down the road to free up the guest room? Then you will wish you still had it! I would hold on to it for now in the basement just in case.....

@snowjewelz: There's really not a lot in our basement (because it creeps me out and the spiders live down there), so it definitely has room for storage! I'd love to have it finished one day and have a guest room down there, but not sure if that will ever happen.

I'd hang onto it. One of your kids could use it in their room in the near future.

Donate it! Unless you plan on moving in the next year or two, there is no reason to keep it and let it take up space. We have a few local organizations that take these sort of things for families coming out of homelessness. They pick up too...

I would say keep it if you have the space in the basement. But if you're not particularly attached to any of it you could also try selling it and then just replace later if you end up needing similar items.

I vote donate bed but if it's a nice TV keep it, can always put it in kid's play area!

i would keep the bed and donate the TV and media stand. When Xander's ready to move to a bed, you could always move him to a queen sized bed with a bedrail instead of converting his crib to the toddler bed.

If it's older stuff you'd rather replace in the future anyway, DH and I have had good luck donating house items to women's shelters. They'll often pick things up if they need them.

Or, you could see if you have Freecycle in your area and give it to someone who needs it. They also have to pick up things they claim (freecycle is actually how we found the last women's shelter we gave stuff to)
