I'm going to a potluck lunch tomorrow. I was asked to bring a side dish and I'm drawing a blank. Help!
What's your go to side dish for potlucks?

Crockpot BBQ meatballs would probably be the easiest - http://allrecipes.com/recipe/bbq-meatballs/
- Fresh guacamole and chips
- 7-Layer Dip
- Stuffed mushrooms

hmm...is there a theme? are there going to be kids there?
is it warm out?
If it is warm and if it is outdoors: I'd probably bring turkey rolls? I use tortillas and put turkey and lettuce and cheese inside then roll them up and stick a decorative pick in to secure them.
Or you could make fruit kabobs?
Or maybe just bring a nice container of gourmet hummus with some pita chips?
If it is chilly and/or it is indoors: I'd probably just do like a shrimp pasta dish with alfredo sauce... with mushrooms and bow-tie noodles.

Usually I bring this pasta dish that’s a creamy/tangy pasta salad with penne, smoked mozzarella and spinach. It’s a “copy cat” recipe of a salad they make at Whole Foods sometimes.
Sometimes I bring cold pesto pasta salad, or some kind of dip and crackers/chips/pita/etc for dipping.
Do you know what others are bringing, or is there any sort of food theme?

@TurtleDoves: @yoursilverlining: She didn't mention a theme or what anyone else was bringing. Just to bring a side dish. It's in the 60s here. Kinda cool for where I live.
My doula is having a past client get together. So it's going to be all ladies, babies and maybe some older children.

I generally take baked Mac and cheese because it's kid friendly and familiar so it's less likely to get passed over. Or pasta salad or corn bread casserole.

Meatballs in pasta sauce. Heat it up in the crock pot, then take the crock with you.

@mediagirl: YUM. how does this work? So you make the meatballs first and then just basically transport them in crock-pot so they stay warm? Or is there someway to actually make them in there?
@mrskc: That sounds like so much fun! Enjoy yourself:)

Usually this Asian Slaw Salad. Super easy but it is a hit every time I bring it.

@TurtleDoves: I just dump pasta sauce in the crockpot and put the (frozen) meatballs in the sauce. Once the sauce heats up, it warms the meatballs!

I usually do guacamole or egg and potato salad. Mostly because I love them and want to eat them. Haha.

Cheesy potatoes in the crockpot. Just southern style home fries 2 cans of cheddar cheese soup, a can evaporated milk and French fried onions. Not the healthiest, but so yummy!

Sweet meatballs!
Buy a bag of frozen meatballs, put them in the crockpot with 1 jar of chili sauce, 1 can of cranberry sauce and 1/3 cup of sugar. Make the sauce first and just let them cook all day. Take the whole crock pot with you to keep them warm!
