We want them to try a little of everything, but definitely gymnastics, soccer and volleyball.

All LO1 talks about is sports, so probably a little of everything. Starting with soccer next month

Soccer, baseball, golf, dance (not really a sport, but I danced as a kid and loved it).

I think I'd love them to try a bit of everything, DH would say tennis. The one I don't want them to try is rugby, I really don't want them playing that. DH comes from quite a rugby family though so I will have my work cut out

Gymnastics is my main one and DH really is all about softball and bought her a tee and bat for Christmas. Otherwise i'll let her try everything...I hate basketball though, I hope she skips that one

Swimming as I find it to be more of a life skill than anything, softball/baseball, and DH wants them to do jujitsu. I'll be happy as long as they are active in something.

Everything she can! Well...maybe except for rugby...I know what goes on in rugby....
I think we're going to start gymnastics next Fall after swimming season is over!

@travelgirl1: lol I just saw your post. Thankfully I am the only one in my family and his that ever played so the pressure will not be there!

Tennis and soccer. I'd like for them to play an individual and team sport.

I don't think we'll avoid hockey and Nordic skiing up here...they're the most popular sports because the football season is so short.
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I agree! Definitely a team sport as well as an individual.

Volleyball and softball! Girlfriend's gonna be tallllllll. I think. I hate soccer, personally. Hate hate hate. And hockey, which is big here. But, really, i just want her to pick something, love it, and be a badass at it.

Soccer and baseball for sure, and then see what he thinks about golf and tennis. We are hoping against hope no football because we don't watch it (and therefore do not understand it really) and I don't want to see him get tackled.

Whatever he likes, but hopefully soccer and swimming. I was a figure skater and my brother played hockey but they are too expensive so hopefully he doesn't want to do either. Oh and football, I don't want him playing football but if he loves it I guess I don't have a choice.

Tennis, because I liked it so much in HS and DH played squash, and with his CIs I think any contact sport will be out for LO.

@mediagirl: Did you get injured? DH tells me horror stories about his rugby injuries!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@travelgirl1: not really. I was a wing so I didn't get in the middle of the scrum. Worst I got was a bloody nose and some good cleat mark bruises.

I think soccer will probably be the first one because she's really good at it! And DH is a huge golf fan so if she's interested that might be in her future. Besides that I'm not sure. There's only so much time and money. I also want them to have some music lessons as well and language classes.
Don't want them so booked up they can't be a kid!
P. S. Oh and ballet or dance. Haha a little girl in leotard and dance tutu is too cute to not try at least once.

We are going to enroll him in karate which is offered at daycare and I would like them to play soccer.

My husband always wanted a son who played football like he did. I think J's going to be a little too small! So we're hoping for baseball.

I don't really care, but I'll probably push her more towards something like basketball or softball or soccer or even karate rather than cheerleading or gymnastics or dance. I know the latter are real sports full of real athletes but I worry (especially for little girls) that there is a little too much focus on being pretty rather than just doing the sport.

If I could pick, Id want T to do martial arts. I'm going to enroll him when he turns 4. I hope he sticks with it!
If we ever have a girl I really want her to do gymnastics. I take T to a baby gym class and the class before his is older kids. And all the preschool girls in their tumbling gear are so cute!!! I used to do tumbling and never stuck with it. I hope if we have a daughter she will like it.

definitely karate or taekwondo for both. other than that, any team sport is fine with me! i have a soft spot for baseball though.

C is in gymnastics now. Eventually we'd like him to try baseball and basketball.
M will probably do gymnastics and volleyball, maybe soccer.
Honestly though whatever they'd like to try is fine by me!
