Car seat, crib mattress.... I mean... Pretty much everything else can be washed or sterilized. Bottles are no problem for me. You replace the nipples and soft bits and sterilize the rest.

Car seat, crib mattress, and probably crib. My son hated pacifiers, so we have a ton that were never used that we're giving to a friend.

I wouldn't buy a car seat from a consignment shop. We did use a friend's infant seat since I knew they only used it for 4 months and it wasn't in any accidents.

I wouldn't get bottles or pacifiers used.

@Bao: I meant shop/sales. There is a big one here 2 times a year and there are so many car seats but they go fast.

I think the only thing I would have been willing to buy used (from a stranger) is a stroller or a Tripp Trapp high chair.

Same as you listed. I had a weird paranoia concerning used body suits so he got all new ones there. I will definitely be using them with no. 2 though. (Somehow I trust my own washing skills ). With bottles and sippy cups we'll just replace the soft parts with no. 2.

Some things I would buy from family or close friends I know - but others I wouldn't. so it depends.

Mainly the things I would buy used are toys and clothes.

I'm a weirdo about used things. I wish I could be more open to them, particularly because I believe in buying used from a sustainability standpoint, but other than babywearing stuff and strollers, I'm just not into used stuff

@mrbee: I have used a friend's nose suction bulb before.... I know how she is and her kids are older now so I trust her.

I have a hard time buying used stuff... Both for the safety aspect and ick factor of not knowing what has been on the item. This is only from strangers, though... If it's a friend I feel more comfortable with it.

I won't buy a used car seat or crib mattress. I'm open to most things that can be washed/sterilized. Underwear would definitely be a no-go, and while I don't have any used cloth diapers, I wouldn't mind buying some since I can strip and wash them before wear.
