Almost all of his clothes are used because they are hand me downs, we bought a used exersaucer, today we just bought a used table and chairs for his room, and I know there are more things I can't think of at the moment. I'm a HUGE cheapskate and I love to save money whenever possible when I shop. The only thing I won't let him wear used are shoes when he gets bigger for obvious reasons.

I have absolutely no problem with buying used clothes for the baby. Any way to save money is welcome!

No. I don't buy used for my clothing, so I don't do it for my LO. I can do so well at sales at certain stores and I've learned not to overbuy. IMO, you don't NEED 5 trashbags of infant clothing sized 0-6 months. Putting the clothes on is a challenge!

Oh yes! alot of the time it's in excellent condition for 1/10 of the price. If you are on a budget, it's the way to go!

I shop consignment for her. The place I go has really nice stuff, they're picky about what they take. But I've actually found some cheaper things at target.

Absolutely! Babies are constantly outgrowing and I don't see the need to purchase everything brand new, whether or not we had the budget for it.

I dont think there is anything wrong with buying used items for babies but its just not for me. I like to be able to know that I have the full manufacturers warranty on big ticket items and when it comes to clothes I dont buy used clothes for me so I wouldnt buy used for my baby. there are lots of sales and coupons that can get you new items at great prices. I just bought a 3 piece crib, dresser, and changing table nursery set on sale for $199

Everything, except one onsie, that hubs and I bought for clothing is used. We found some great finds at Goodwill. We also have a ton of used toys too. We also told people, if they wanted to buy her clothes, to buy used and give the rest to her 529.

I haven't because you can get great things for $5 or under at Target or even Baby Gap. I guess consignment shops are even cheaper? Luckily, my mom has purchased the majority of LO's clothes for me so I haven't looked into saving money when I do buy her something myself.

I think every thrift shop and consignment store in a 20 block radius knows me by name I understand wanting a few cute new things but really babies just grow so fast it doesn't make sense to buy a ton of new stuff all the time. Plus I got lots of clothes at my showers. I don't really have a budget when it comes to setting up the babies or the nurseries but I don't see the need to buy new in that case.

80% of my LO's clothing is pre-owned and about 50% of her toys/gear is pre-owned. After you pay less than $1/outfit buying pre-owned, it's difficult to justify paying more for new stuff, especially since I only buy from good homes that take care of their stuff.

For expensive and/or bulky items, I prefer buying used cause there's less risk if you or your LO ends up not liking it or not using it as much as you thought. Plus, it makes getting rid of things so much easier since you can either sell it to someone else for cheap, give to a friend, or donate it without feeling like you wasted your money.

That said, I never buy anything that I can't run through the washing machine or completely sanitize using a steam cleaner.

At least half our gear and prob 75% of the clothes are used. Why buy new for something that's only used for a couple months.

The vast majority of our kids' clothes are hand-me-downs, but they are all from family and friends. My parents, who have owned dry-cleaners and laundromats for over 20 years, are VERY against us getting clothes from strangers because of what they've seen in their business over the years. I know that most used clothes are perfectly clean and safe, but after the stories my mother has told me, I stay away too!

I would say 80% of my daughter's clothes are used. I wash stuff as soon as I get it home and have no qualms.

It saves so much money.

If they're in good condition, I have no problem buying used! It saves money, and they grow fast anyway.

Oh yes! Mainly because it's super easy to make sure it gets clean before LO wears it, just toss it in the washing machine! I'm a bit more wary of things that I can't easily wash, like some gear.

Yes, as long as they are in good condition. We got a big box from a friends baby this week. I am sad that she probably won't be able to wear most of it due to different seasons.

Yep, absolutely!

no problems doing this except that 90% of his clothes were purchased for us and the other 10% have been stuff like 3-pack sleepers from Wal Mart.
