When you bought your current house, what did you end up compromising on and what were your non-negotiables?

Back story: I'm finding it really hard to find a house I like. Dh and I (and now LO!) have been living in rented houses forever and we really do want to buy, but I'm such a fussy/risk averse person that I can't seem to prioritise what are must haves in a house and what I am willing to overlook. We're not going to be buying a forever home at this point, but hopefully something we'll be happy with for the next 5-10 years.

We have looked at 2 houses recently and also have the option to buy the house we are renting currently. Our current house is certainly big enough, though our garden is small and not well laid out and I hate that there's not much natural light in the kitchen. We looked at another house which was beautiful inside and was in a great neighbourhood but was on the smaller side and another which had a huge garden, it's original 1900 features, but again the rooms seemed on the small side. If it were up to Dh he would buy the house we are in now, because it's fine and would mean we didn't have to move again!

Please help me figure out how to be less fussy!
