My SIL is graduating from HS this year. We're giving her a bigger present, but I was wandering what other bees like to give for high school graduation gifts. Or what was your favorite gift you received for HS graduation?

Cash? I mostly got cash and some random household items for college (dishes, towels, etc...).

I loved all the picture frames I got at high school graduation.

I didn't get a gift for graduating high school. When I asked my parents about it, they scolded me, "Why should we gift you something for something that you're supposed to do?"
How about a nice piece of jewellry?

I usually give gift cards to pizza or coffee places. Those were places I frequented in college.

My sister got me a cute package with things from the college I was going to, flip flops, a shot glass, some cute things for the dorm room,, handmade book of cocktail recipes, etc. You can also put in ramon noodles and some staple college food, or a My First Cookbook.

@Rubies: aww sad!
Books and journals are pretty common. Gift cards to target, ikea for college or else just cash.

The only thing I remember getting was a dorm fridge and I got cash from some people.
A nice piece of jewelry or a gift card to amazon or best buy I'm sure would be apprieciated. Or a nice bag for her laptop.

@Rubies: I don't think my parents gave me a gift either. But I can't complain.... they threw me a party where other people brought gifts, and they paid for my college.

Everyone loves cash or gift cards!
Does she have an Ipod?

I liked the cash, and I used mine to buy a laptop. Does she have an ipod? Kindle? Gift cards to coffee shops and sub shops or even a gas card is nice.

@Rubies: my parents were the same way with hs and college. They told me ordinary achievements don't need extra recognition!

Pretty much everyone gave me cash for college graduation.

I think at the time cash was most appreciated. My mom bought my cousin a beautiful, simple Tiffany's necklace that she loved! I don't think it was more than $200.

Cash! I used mine to buy a laptop.
Another idea is a cool pair of pajamas! I would have loved to have a pair of PJs from Nick and Nora (at the time).

@Rubies: :(!!!!
I really liked getting cash. I wish I had spent it better but...it was a nice item to receive. I think a gift basket of things you'll need at college would be awesome, too. A shower bucket with a towel, shampoo, conditioner, shower shoes, hanging soap, etc.

I usually give a gift card to somewhere like The Container Store and a book like Michael J. Fox's "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future".

My favorite gift were cash (of course) and a hooded sweatshirt from my new college. Also, someone who gave me $$ tucked it into a copy of Dr. Seuss' "Oh, The Places You'll Go" which I thought was a sweet touch.

Mostly cash. For my little sister and her friends, I made up gift baskets (in a shower caddy) that had a roll of quarters (for laundry), shower shoes, Tylenol, Easy Mac, a gift card to the book store at their college, and a Target gift card. There were probably a few other things in there, but it was 10 years ago, so I don't remember everything.

Cash is always nice! That way they can buy whatever they want. I also received a watch and a Tiffany's pen. I say go with cash!
