Basically, if it's got batteries, it's going. If it's wood, or a classic toy, like trains or Legos, we will keep.

Nothing. When we outgrow something I try to find it a good home amongst friends and family though.

None? Haha I'm not a saver, I like to get rid of things. My MIL has kept everything (including broken McDonalds toys) and while some of it is cool, most of it is junk.

I'll probably save dolls and some high quality things if they hold up as long as my kids are in the house.

But as far as saving for potential grandkids to play with at my house later? None. If my kids want to save things for their children they will have to take it with them when they move out!

Probably nothing. My dad has a bunch of my old stuff stored away (including a ton of children's books and my American Girl doll collection), and he has so much stuff in the locker that he can't get into it and I honestly think that by the time he unearths my old things, my kids will be too old for that stuff (DD is 3 so he has a few years, but I've been asking him to get my old stuff out of storage for 10+ years now so...). We have a tiny home and are bursting at the seams already with just age-appropriate toys. There is no way I can store stuff for the next generation unless we move into a much bigger house because I am definitely not going to rent a storage locker indefinitely like my dad has done.

Books and the high quality wooden toys. My MIL saved everything (literally everything) that was my husband's and so much of it I wish she didn't. Every time my son goes to her house, I feel like I just want to throw it all out. You can tell the plastic is no good and half the stuff is about to break. It made me very nervous when he was younger, at least he's 4 now and now putting everything in his mouth.

What my mom kept of mine was my American Doll and all her clothes. Also a really beautiful doll house my Grandpa built so I am happy to have those for my daughter. She is only 1.5 yrs so there really isn't anything I would keep at this point since it mostly plastic baby toys.

I hadn't really thought of saving toys for future grandkids, only saving sentimental things like loveys. It's a good idea though, I wish my mom had saved my toys because when we go to her house LO has nothing to play with.

We will probably save American Girl stuff (the doll DD has is mine and just needed a good cleaning after 25 years!!), Calico Critter stuff, books, and other classic, high quality stuff. I'm tossing plastic toys, battery operated anything, and most stuffed animals (except for her few favorite lovies).
