I have seen stationary and convertible traditional cribs. I have also heard of people using pack 'n plays as their cribs. Are there more types? What did you buy and why?

I couldn't even find a stationary crib. I feel like they're all convertable now!
We used a bassinet when she was a newborn, but she grew out of that pretty quickly.

Charlie has a convertible crib and Olive has a stationary one. I don't think a convertible crib is necessary -- it's just that I liked the design of Charlie's crib. Most people prefer transitioning straight to a regular bed than using a toddler bed since you don't get much use out of a toddler bed. We have to buy a conversion kit to change Charlie's crib into a toddler bed, but we'll cross that milestone when we get to it. I want to keep Charlie in his crib as long as possible!

Cheapest stationary we could find. You can take off the front and it becomes a toddler bed, but it doesn't go any further than that, like a twin or full.
If you go the convertible route, I've heard you should def. buy the conversion kit as soon as possible, in case it becomes discontinued.

We have a convertible crib. we bought the toddler rail and conversion kit at the same time because like Looch said, we didn't know if it would still be available by the time we needed to turn it into the regular bed.

Like @mynoahbear we bought a convertible crib with the toddler and full size rails at the same time. We figured it was easier and have one less to deal with, having a bed go from baby to adulthood.

We bought the Graco Lauren convertible crib. I just liked the way it looked, mostly. Plus, it had the best reviews for the price.

I bought a stationary crib - We splurged on the crib since it will be passed down from kid to kid. I just plan on going straight from crib to bed but put up rails when they grow out of the crib.

We bought a convertible crib, because that way the child can grow up with that bed.

We have a convertable one. It has been nice not having to get a new bed so far but when baby #2 comes we will switch our daughter to a normal bed and turn hers back to a crib.
