@Regberadaisy; Mr. T says he pities da foo' who raises chickens. I've tried to talk him into it several times, but he just says no. Apparently he does not like the idea of chicken poop everywhere. Men are so fussy sometimes! I think once Lorelei gets a little older and our killer dog gets too old to hunt effectively we will have some more farm critters. I'd like some milk goats, and Ellie is going to get a horse in the next few years if she keeps up with her lessons.
I would not be surprised at all if the taste is what turned your little one off of eggs. Raising them "naturally" so they can forage is good for the chickens, and also good for you (the eggs typically contain stronger nutrient profiles compared to average store-bought), but can have some... interesting... implications for flavor.

We buy large cage free organic eggs. I tried fresh eggs from the farmer's market, but they seemed a bit off. I think I'll try again this summer but from a different farmer.
