LO recently started saying thank you! We think it's so sweet and cute.

A month or so ago DS yelled to DD, "Bra, din din!" (Meaning, "Brother, dinner!" Yes, he calls her brother, lol.)

My daughter started saying "open it!" recently. She says it all day long now.
squash / 13199 posts
LO also said "Thank you" first as well!
and now she says "whats this?"
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
M saiD the other day "ball, one minute please" (she wanted me to get her the ball as soon as I got her in the car seat). Pretty good for an 18 month old.

@Mrs. Jacks: That's amazing! And you were worried. She's way ahead of the game!

@Honeybee: guess our mother-ese and reading campaign is finally paying off!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: impressive! She went straight from 1 word to 4!!!!
We started with a two word sentence - uh oh.
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
Whats that (wassss da?), followed by Go puppy (do puuppppeeeee!) and now Uh-oh and Bye-bye.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@prettylizy: @mediagirl: oh darn. I think it's actually buh-bye or uh-oh now. Can't remember which came first.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
Ours was also "thank you" and "share, goat" bc we fed goats at the zoo a ton when she was little
pomegranate / 3438 posts
What's that, followed by all done (which comes out all-dum) and recently thank you.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@mediagirl: we had a few intermediates like "more please" and "Lala nini?" but yeah, she mostly skipped the two word phrase step.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
LO started saying "all done" around 11 months. He talks alllllll the time.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
I think it was uh oh... followed by thank you - love that one!
It took a few months but now he'll do 2-4 words now, but he smushes them together into one word! Like I love you is one word, so is "where is it".
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@Mrs. Pen: hahah we have been working on I love you. She is *almost* there. I love that she elongates the o. haha
eggplant / 11287 posts
Her only multi word phrases right now are "what's that" and "there it is."
grapefruit / 4823 posts
He started with 'uh-oh', but says 'here go'(for here you go when he gives something) and 'thank you'
bananas / 9227 posts
Today she said, "Hej, pappa!" It's the first time she's pieced together two words without prompting. It's when DD came home from work
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
his only phrases are in sign (thank you, more please, drink water)--does that count?
in vocalized English he's still one word at a time--and nearly all of them are single syllable as well.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
Uh oh, I can't remember!
I think it was "what's this/what's that?"
Her first multiple word sentence was "no, I don't got Oreos on my face!"... Video is on Instagram. Still working in her grammar & lying
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
He sometimes says something that sounds like "I did it" or "I do it" but I can't be sure. He's 16 months. Otherwise, it's just one word stuff these days.
eggplant / 11824 posts
Just "uh oh", "bye-bye" and "nooooooooooooooooo, me!" which is usually said at about 128379128 decibles to let you know she can do it on her own and doesn't need your help, thankyouverymuch!!!!
pomegranate / 3388 posts
Well she's been saying some version of "see ya" or "see ya later" for almost as long as she's been saying any single-word phrases. There are no other multi-word phrases in sight right now however. When do kids usually start picking up on multi-word phrases anyway?
pineapple / 12526 posts
The first one was either thank you or hi kitty.
She says quite a few now. Thank you, hi kitty, uh oh, bye bye, night night, oh wow
bananas / 9118 posts
All done! My MIL started teaching him that at 10 months, and not long after he was all over it at meal times.
Very recently he has picked up Oh no! He says it so cute too
grapefruit / 4056 posts
Bad Momma (I have to stop saying that about myself when he is upset etc). Shortly after that, kitty cat, bear bear (for the dog), and all done.
pomegranate / 3729 posts
I think "hi there" was her first one. She was mimicking a toy that she has at like 10 months old or something crazy. It was insane.
But, other than repeating it was "all done". She used that as it was meant to be said. Now "hold you" is her favorite.
GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts
"One more", complete with the finger motion. I laughed so hard I almost cried because I didn't realize (until then) how often I said it to her.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
Come on. He was trying to get me to get up and go into another room and I wasn't getting it, lol.
coconut / 8234 posts
I think it might be a tie between "all done" and thank you. The funniest one to us is "who dat?" Our friends in New Orleans would love that. And the worst is "get out!" because I say it to the cats all the time
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@locavore_mama: haha it's so cute! His sounds more like IOU lol
grapefruit / 4817 posts
"Mack, sit!" It was his favorite saying for months. He's 17 months and still really really loves to boss the dog around. She still ignores him.
