pretty name!!

we shared before he was born, and all our friends had nice things to say, but both sides of family were kind of meh about it hahaha..... thankfully i was 100% sure about the name! next time we'll keep it to ourselves until baby is born!

everyone loves his name when we say it but then gets confused when we spell it - Graeme - we liked the scottish spelling more than the american graham.

People said they loved it. We picked a pretty traditional name so we didn't expect much negativity over it. I think my family was shocked we didn't use my middle name.

We didn't announce his name until he was born because that was when we had it figured out. My mom's reaction was surprise. She knew some of the names we were considering. I don't think that I mentioned his name among them. She said that she didn't have any kids of his name when she was a kindergarten teacher, so it was a nice surprise.

@cascademom: Thank you! Your LO's name might have made our short list but we already have a nephew named that.

I am SO nervous about announcing the name!! We have a girl's name picked (Gwendolyn) but not a boy's. When I texted my sister months ago with some name ideas (Gwendolyn was not among them) she made fun of them! It made me cry for hours and now I'm really really nervous. I'm trying to decide if I should announce when we know the gender, wait til the shower, or what. Agh!!!

Everyone told us they loved it, except for my FIL who said it was "okay". He pointed out that our last name had the same ending sound as our daughters first name, and it bothered him. We didn't notice that the names sounded similar until he pointed it out, and I still don't notice the similarities unless I over pronunciate both names.

@travelgirl1: we are in the gray-am camp. although the pronunciation runs the gamut from 'graim' to 'gram'

@2PeasinaPod: @travelgirl1: I think you both are right! It's killing me not to tell people, but at least once she's named, it's stuck and they can't do anything about it lol!! And thanks, I think Ariela is a gorgeous name!

Nothing but compliments when we announced her name at Christmas! It's pretty, it's beautiful, I love it, etc. My mom was the only one who suggested an alternative name, but it was so eccentric, I was like...what? No. (She suggested Starr...)

I can't think of anyone that loved her name, but DH and I were 100% in love with it. The inlaws still call her the name they chose, "jokingly", ummm I'm not laughing oh well. My family came around (:

We aren't announcing til baby is born, but my sister and BIL love the name, my parents love it, and my ILs hate it. Of course they do. My sis/BIL and parents both said the same thing - that its a very strong classic name, but unusual enough to be distinctive.

Everyone seemed to love LO's name. One of my friends said right away that it really makes sense that I would name my LO that, which I didn't even realize is completely true until she said that. It really does just fit.

We shared before, we didn't have any negative things said, most people who you could tell aren't sure said "such an interesting name for a girl, how did you come up with it?" Her name is Emerson, so I guess people think because of the 'son' it's more masculine.
