Mine was What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong because my dad loves that song. Olive and Mr. Bee's will probably be L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole because that's her bedtime lullaby.
What was yours?

If my dad had been alive when I got married, we would've danced to Hero by Mariah Carey.
I always cry to Butterfly Kisses too!

Love Me Tender.. one of my dad's classic karaoke songs. He has a thing for Elvis. I surprised him with it, and he sang it in my ear the whole time.

I Wish You Love by Tony DeSare. It was a hard pick since so many of the traditional songs are romantic love and not super appropriate if you listen too closely

I picked a motown song about a girl with my name that my dad always sang to me. My dad didn't want to know the song selection in advance. He was touched by the song but our dance was awful. I don't think he anticipated a faster song. At least it was memorable.

Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman. My dad and I are huge Disney nerds, so I needed to have some kind of reference to it

Stand By Me. We didn't have it announced or spotlighted, etc but I told him to come find me when that song came on. Our relationship has never been an easy daddy's little girl type thing and we had a lot of conflict leading up to my marriage, but one of my favorite memories of that day is watching him perk up across the room and squeeze between tables and guests to run to me. I cry just thinking about it!

@Mrs. High Heels: And now Im crying because I had to hear Butterfly Kisses after you mentioned it.
Since my father passed I realized I always cry at weddings during the father daughter dances. My dad and I didnt have an easy relationship but I just remember him at my wedding and know how lucky I was to have that day and how happy he was for me. I also admit weddings make me think ahead to my own childrens weddings and that feeling as a parent where you always seem them as your babies and weddings I think hone in to the fact that they are grown up more than anything.

Uh we did not dance. Don't really have that kind of relationship. He did give a lovely toast.

My dad wanted to use Sunrise, Sunset. It's so schmaltzy though. We compromised by dancing to the Louis Armstrong recording instead of the Broadway version.

@Mrs. Chocolate: It's such a beautiful song. I dreaded my future wedding day for years because I didn't want to face never getting the chance to walk down the aisle with my dad, or have that father/daughter dance. The father/daughter dance in every wedding never fails to make me cry!

James Taylor "Your Smiling Face." Dad loves James Taylor, and my mom had died unexpectedly 7 months earlier, so there was a lot of backstory. My Dad changed A LOT after our wedding and our relationship has been rocky/nonexistent every since, so that song still tears me up!

We danced to "Walk With You" by Edwin McCain. It's cheesy, as it's totally written for that occasion, but that was the one he picked. My best friend, who was a new mother, bawled the whole time...now that I think of LO and DH dancing to a song like that someday, it totally chokes me up too.

@:anandam I can picture that, and it totally makes me tear up. What a special memory.
@Mrs. High Heels: that must have been tough. I'm sorry.
@Corduroy: aww! Sounds sweet though!

@pui: how fun!
@anandam: very sweet!
My dad declined to come to my wedding. We didn't have a traditional reception with dancing anway. If he had come I would have had the ceremony guitarist play Paul Simon for him.

We danced to You are My Sunshine, the Nat King Cole version. It's the song my dad and my grandpa both sang to me when I was a baby (and the source of my HB name!)

@Mrs. Bee: we're twins! I did what a wonderful world with my dad at my wedding, and I use LOVE as my LO's lullaby! Although it's me and not DH that sings it to her

@78h2o: @LindsayInNY: WE DID TOO!!! Haha.
And I just listened to it again and cried.
