I loved Nancy Drew, the babysitter's club, anne of green gables and yes sweet valley twins/high.
But my favorite book was probably Where the Red Fern Grows. I feel like if I reread it now, I'll cry!

I should add, the older I got, I loved Little House on the Prairie...and Harry Potter from about age 11 to present. I reread them all about every other year.

BSC and Sweet Valley Twins & High. I read them all over and over and over. I also loved the American Girl Doll books, I wish I would have kept them, I had the box sets for a lot of the originals!

@gingerbebe: I really liked the self subsistence books too. My Side of the Mountain and The Far Side of the Mountain I read several times. I got to meet and interview the author a couple years go...she's in her 90s now!!
I love(d) reading so I read all the usual stuff...Little House on the Prairie, Babysitters Club, Boxcar Children, Sweet Valley High, etc.

My mom got me started on Boxcar Children, from there I always had a book open. BSC was a hit along with Saddle Club and Thoroughbred book series (horse crazy much?)
