I got my LO these when she started walking (the soft soles though).
To date I've only bought 3 pairs of shoes for her.. and she's almost 2! 2 pairs of crocs and these early walkers.
As much as I'd like to buy tons of cute shoes, I feel like it's such a waste

Here he was walking around Nordstrom in his first pair of walking shoes (pumas). He had been walking for 2 months before we bought him real shoes just so his feet could adjust to walking barefoot.
ETA: he really isn't pigeon toed - just a bad photo!

We got so many hand me down shoes and LO was a late walker so these are the first shoes I bought for her...she loves them and walks so much better in them than in her hand me down shoes (stride rites)

We waited until DS could walk before buying shoes. We went with these hard-soled stride rite tennis shoes.

His first pair of shoes were Stride Rite Elmo sneakers. They were on clearance for $12, and he loves Elmo. Perfect combo!

@chopsuey119: adorable! I also think they are a waste. We have only bought 4 pairs and only started really wearing them on him when he was walking well. Before that it was a minky bootie with a no slip sole.

We have mostly used Stride Rite because DS's feet are so wide. I'm thinking of getting Pedipeds for his next shoe.
Here is a (sentimental) post about all the shoes he's ever had. He's 2yrs.
