My splurge was a really comfy rocker recliner (but not pbk-level...I didn't think those were that comfy anyway). Then I chose fabric (pattern and color) for the curtains which kinda helped set everything else.

I splurged on my little castle glider. Incidentally it was the first thing I got too!

Our crib was the "splurge" but it's still pretty mid-level cost.

The crib-bedding set - we had the skirt and railing covers custom made and I absolutely love it. It makes me happy every time I go into the nursery. I don't have any pictures though.

I guess I splurged on the bedding, but the sheets really weren't all that expensive at $28/ea.

We see the nursery as a temporary room, a stepping stone to their permanent furniture. We invested in Chloe's 'big girl bed' and expect that she gets years worth of use out of it.

Both nurserys were definitely done on a budget since we viewed them as stepping stone rooms..

Umm...nothing! Both rooms were very budget friendly. We will spend a but more once we give them full size beds and they can help decorate.

Nothing! I can't think of anything that was a real splurge. Just got what I liked, and kept in mind that my kid would probably pee on it haha

My must have was a Jenny Lind crib but it was pretty reasonably priced.

My splurge was our glider. Not that it was outrageously priced but I was willing to spend more for a well made chair since it would be used so much. It has gotten a TON of use & I think we made a good choice. It's from Best Chairs.

We didn't really do a nursery as such but we have a restored antique / heirloom rimu tallboy in LO's bedroom so my Dad very kindly made us a rimu cot to match. I love that we have these two heirloom pieces of furniture that are going to be around for years to come

I agree with the sentiment, but we didn't do that at all, because we were going to be moving and wouldn't be taking the furniture with us...so we furnished the room in IKEA (which I loathe). Oh, and I then decided that I would design the big boy room for my son's dreams, but it has turned out that I am too thrifty for that and would rather spend money on other things...so the furniture in my son's room is my former bedroom furniture with a full sized bed we bought at Costco.

I splurged on our stroller, though.

Our glider/ottoman is our splurge item! We don't have it yet (it's on the registry, hoping a bunch of people would go in on it together), but it's something we'll definitely buy ourselves.

Crib and dresser were both budget friendly, and I'll design the decor/artwork myself or use things we already have.

We didn't go crazy on the nursery, since at the time we were renting and thought it was temporary (we since bought the condo we were renting). Most expensive item was the crib but it was midrange price and chosen in part because it matched the dresser my parents gave me from my bedroom growing up. The central "design" focus was the PBK sheets- Taylor, gray and white elephants. But at $19 a sheet it wasn't a crazy splurge or anything.

We did get a decent glider but it didn't for in her room so it's in the livig room.

My splurge was the stroller.

@LulaBee: same for us! We also found ours on craigslist and Lo2 is using it now.

Eta: for LO2, the splurge was the new stroller.
