Wrong:

-Back labor
-Longish labor (31 hours from first contraction I couldn't sleep through)
-2 failed* epidurals
-2 hours of pushing
-PP hemorrhage
-Second degree tear on top of episiotomy.
-So.much.vomiting.
-Stuck in bed for hours after delivery. When they finally let me get up to try to pee hours later I needed the support of two people to walk.
*They both worked for a while, and then settled in my left leg below my thigh.

Right:

-Delivered vaginally
-Had a great support team in with me--SO, mom, MIL/FIL. Couldn't have done it without the epidural without them.
-Apparently throwing up during labor helps both the cervix to dilate and the baby to move down!
-Both OBs I saw were awesome.
-Also had a fantastic nurse.
-E was hearty and healthy
-Immediate latch, milk came in within 36 hours

Wrong:
-Water broke 3 weeks early
-Back labor
-Cervix was sealed shut so labored unmedicated for 17 hours and was about to start pushing before they realized I'd only dilated 1 cm (water was broken so they didn't check me again after my arrival)
-Baby was jaundiced so started pumping and supplementing before leaving the hospital, and had to stay an extra day for light exposure therapy
- 2nd degree tear

Right:
-Once I got my epi/pitocin, I dilated right away
-Pushed 3 times and baby was born
-Midwife/doula team was awesome - they said afterward if I'd been in a different hospital with an OB team, I likely would've gone right to a c-section instead of giving the epi/pit a chance given I was approaching 24 hrs after my water broke when they discovered I hadn't dilated at all
-Baby latched 2 seconds after being born and nursed for 30 mins on each side!
- Delivered vaginally, which I wanted
- Got to spend a ton of time in the birthing tub
-Lactation consultants at the hospital were awesome and nursing was easy from the beginning

Right:
Homebirth (planned)
Short labor, 12 hours
Text book contractions
Healthy baby
Healthy mama
No tearing
Breastfeeding went well (although extremely painful until he learned to latch deeper)
Amazing birth team

Wrong:
Few decals of baby's heart rate while pushing (cord was bunched up near his chest)
Small amount of meconium in fluid
Didn't have a water birth like I had hoped for

-it was pretty long, but that's literally it. If you can even count that as something going "wrong".

What went right:
-healthy baby
-healthy mama
-no tears
-planned unmedicated hospital birth that was somehow even more empowering than my previous home birth. I rode that high for months
-even easier recovery than my first
-labored at home for a long time, but still made it to the hospital in plenty of time to avoid delivering in the car. <----Being 50 miles from the hospital and in the middle of nowhere, this was a concern.

What went wrong:
-another long labor.

I can't complain a bit. My body has served me well. Except when it comes to making milk and that is an entirely different subject altogether, lol.

Right:
I eventually got to take a healthy baby home
Awesome nurses
Amazing doula
Birth wishes were respected as much as possible
Lots of breastfeeding support
Completed most of my labor at home

Wrong:
36 hours of unmedicated back labor
Then a failed epidural
3.5+ hours of pushing
3rd degree episiotomy
4th degree tearing
Sunny side up/ear out baby
Small pelvic outlet
Decels of baby's heart rate
Huge hematoma on baby's head from vacuum
Broken tailbone (me)
Neck pain (baby)

Right:
- epidural worked great
- my first nurse was amazing
- my doctor was on call
- I was able to handle contractions before epi very well
- my doctor did my c-section my baby
- my anestelogist was amazing, she kept me calm during my section.
- I healed quickly and fairly easy, scare is not noticable
- they wheeled me down to NICU after recovery so I could hold my baby. Greatest moment of my life.

Wrong:
- took 2 times to get epidural due to curve in spine
-back labor
- I got to 8 cm very quickly...and then stopped. and then stopped again at 9 1/2 cm so it took awhile fo rme to be able to push (15 hours after induction)
- BP went up/baby HR went up
- spiked a fever after 1 1/2 hours of pushing
- started vomiting while pushing, fever continued to go up, scared of infection
- second nurse was disrespectful to my doctor and didn't call her like she was supposed too. My doctor did not like that I had my fever as long as I did.
- unplanned c-section due to distress as soon as my doc arrived
- baby wouldn't breathe on her own so to the NICU she went
- low iron so I had no strength for several days

Wrong: very little and relatively minor:
Baby's heart rate wasn't reacting well to pushing at the very end, so they had to call in an OB and almost had to do episiotomy and potentially a c section. Vacuum assist and pushing with the threat of c section got her out quickly though!
Hematoma on her head from vacuum, contributed to some jaundice, but no interventions beyond lots of nursing and some sunlight were needed.
Detour in the way to the hospital with contractions coming on top of each other!!

Right: almost everything.
Labored at home for a long time, had baby just under 4 hours after arriving at hospital.
Unmedicated birth with awesome nurse and midwife.
Immediate skin to skin, latched well right away, milk came in without a problem.
I feel so blessed that labor and delivery went as well as it did.

Right:

Recovery was not too bad

Wrong:
Water broke 2.5 weeks early
Pitocin
Was told I would have to have c-section (cue the tears)
Throwing up
Jaundice and having to stay an extra night under the lights and needing to supplement and pump all the time.
Difficulty latching in the beginning

What Went "Right":
Healthy baby boy!
Vaginal birth, as planned (even after pushing for 3 hours!)
Was able to have epidural 1 hour after arriving at hospital
Baby latched and nursed right away

What Went "Wrong":
OB broke my water at the hospital and w discovered that there was meconium in it
Extremely uncomfortable pushing experience (painful, even after epidural, felt as if I was at the wrong angle)
Did not feel "ready" to push when I reached 10cm but did so anyways
Could not hold LO for 45 minutes after his birth due to meconium
Bad tear

All in all, it was an amazing experience! Not exactly how I had "pictured it," per se, but amazing in its own way At the very end, I met my precious little boy, and that made even the toughest of parts worth it

wrong:
first epidural not working, felt continuous contractions for hours on pitocin, and dilating all of 1cm further despite all of that

right:
second epidural! bliss!

Induced at 36 weeks for pre-e
Magnesium drip made me feel pretty awful
Small tear
Baby jaundiced
Had to stay on L&D with catheter for 24 hours post-delivery
Sleepy preterm baby = difficulties BF

Induced at 4cm due to 3 days of no sleep and prodromal labor

An exhausted mom - seriously, I fell asleep on the op table.

At first I really struggled with what happened. I never had any grand idea of what I wanted my birth to be, but I felt like a failure, like I had given up too easily. But looking back, I literally hadn't slept in days. The prodromal contractions were PAINFUL and I couldn't last another day. So I got induced. From there, things just didn't go the way I thought they would. I do wish I'd tried to get up and walk around a bit. Other than that, it was mostly out of my, or anyone's, control.

Right:
- Went into labor naturally (water broke)
- Epidural worked and was awesome
- Pushed for 2 min

Wrong:
- Small tear and skid marks

Once skin to skin was done I was able to have a shower, brush my hair/teeth and have something to eat.
From the time my water was broken to lo being born was 10 hours.

I was able to continue without pain meds

Wrong:
I had to be induced due to pre-e
had to be on high BP med
confined to bed, and on my side

I got the vaginal birth I wanted
Water broke on its own and labor started immediately without pitocin
Epi & pushing was a breeze, felt all pressure but no pain
DS latched immediately and nursed like a champ

Wrong:
Water started leaking Friday......delivered Tuesday. I was in the hospital for four days before meeting DD and got pretty much no sleep. I was soooo out of it by the time I finally had her.
Sunny side up and back labor.
Also, because of my protracted labor I hadn't eaten in two days and was really hangry.
Wanted a natural birth.....gave that up after 12 hours on the pit.
MIL was there.
Big weight loss had us supplement on day three and spend an extra night. Gained eight ounces in 12 hours and we got to go home.

Right:
Un-wanted csection saved both of us. I am forever grateful to the medical team and their work that day.
DD was exactly one gram shy of having to stay in the NICU for being too big.
Perfect apgars. Healthy baby.
Fairly easy recovery.

Right:
-healthy baby delivered
-no tearing/stitches
-DH was a rockstar of a coach
-milk came in right away

Wrong:
-had to be induced for pre-e
-36 weeks
-26 hour labor with 2 hours of pushing
-back labor
-pitocin sucks.
-epidural wore off so I felt everything (was too late to redo it)
-had to be hooked up to magnesium so I couldn't eat or drink for over 24 hours
-the mag made me not be able to see, so I couldn't focus on LOs face until day 3
-couldn't get out of the bed for 2 days
-terrible bedside manner from midwife
-had to stay in L&D because of the mag so I didn't get to spend any time in the recovery side. L&D nurses didn't know much about baby care so no help
-LCs didn't come to L&D side. So no help
-LO didn't and still won't latch. Having to EP. Hate it
-OB wouldn't do LOs circumcision because her office goofed. So we had to go elsewhere
-PPD

I wanted to post on this but I needed a good chunk of time! haha.

Wagon Jr., what went right:
- Went into labor on my own
- Labored for a bit at home and got admitted when I got to the hospital (I didn't want to be sent back home!)
- Vaginal delivery, tearing was all upward so recovery was quicker
- Healthy baby, latched on immediately

Wagon Jr., what went wrong:
- 3 epidurals total (2 failed)
- spiked a fever (so he had to be sent to NICU)
- nurse stuck me about a million times trying to draw blood
- pushed for 3 hours with no results and baby never crowned
- vacuum assisted delivery
- delivered after being awake for almost 36 hours.. 24 hour labor/delivery
- huge tears that required many painful stitches
- membrane left behind required emergency trip back to ER on Christmas Day 2 weeks later, then had to start postpartum recovery all over again

Lil Miss Wagon, what went right:
- were given the platinum treatment because everyone at the hospital had seen my chart with the history of failed epidurals!
- my second favorite OBGYN started my induction, then shift change and MY OBGYN (my favorite!) delivered!
- progressed relatively quickly
- spinal cath (actually a negative) provided awesome pain relief, much better than failed epidurals!
- pushed for 15 mins, baby slipped right out: 10 hour labor/delivery
- unassisted, pain-free vaginal delivery, one tiny tear
- healthy baby, latched on immediately

Lil Miss Wagon, what went wrong:
- walked around for weeks 3 cm dilated, labor never started on its own, had to be induced at 39 weeks due to GD
- inadvertent dural puncture resulted in spinal headache which required blood patch procedure 72 hours later, which was traumatizing
