We camped more than we did anything else as a family. Usually in the mountains (even in the snow), but also at the beach.
Ideally it was near water of some kind, whether it was a small brook or a huge lake. We always pitched a big tent that took hours to set up, toasted marshmallows on wire hangars, cooked potatoes wrapped in foil in the campfire, ate obscene amounts of food cooked on our portable gas range, and just enjoyed nature.
I'm so excited to take Charlie and Olive camping this summer! We're all going to sleep in one tent together, so that'll be a new experience for us!
What were your camping trips like growing up?
My parents are HUGE nature freaks and would take us every year almost! That and places like Mackinac Island and Niagara Falls
