I'm loving this "first words" stage. Gah, its so cute!!
So far, at 14.5 months, we have:
- Daddy
- Mama
- Spam (our dogs nickname)
- Row-row (like the song, with actions)
- Bun-bun (her lovey)
- Hello (while miming having a phone to her ear!)
- Doggie (plus dog noises)
- Baby
- Bean (her nickname)
What were the first words in your house? Did you have any funny ones? When did they appear - and once they started coming did they keep coming thick and fast??

pretty sure it was mama and dada. i can't remember after that. i wish i wrote it down! i remember more the words that he said frequently around that time. Car, animal sounds, plane, ball (i think)... i loved it when he first put two words together. it was always "bye bye ____" like "bye bye daddy/mommy/car/park"/

@Cherrybee: that's a lot of words! So far we have mama (first- good girl!), dada, dog (da!). She sort of makes some animal noises but they kind of all sound the same.

@californiadreams: I suspect this is how it is for most people because its nowhere near as clear cut as I thought it would be! Like, when do you count it as a word they say? I'm pretty sure E said car on Thursday but then she hasn't said it again.... was it a fluke? Do we count it? Its a tough one to judge!

@QueensBee: I love that one! We get that one too but it never preceeds something you might say "uh-oh" about!!!!!
@Foodnerd81: Aaaw!! E only has one animal noise (panting) and thinks all animals are dogs. Even birds.

It's been "da da" pretty consistently for a month or two, but this morning he looked at me as I headed out the door and said, "bye bye." So cute!

@Cherrybee: Haha it started out like that for us too. Uh-oh for everything! He just started saying, "Oooops!" today actually, which is even cuter than uh-oh!
E has a lot of words for 14 months!

Our LO still just says:
dada
cat
dog
uh oh
hot
and good night (our newest word).
Sometimes she mimics things like "ball" but she hasn't really used it spontaneously yet.
Still no mama! She's killing me! Sometime she's make the mamamamama sound, but she doesn't seem to associate it with me, even though I say it CONSTANTLY.

@Anagram: lol, LO went through a phase of purposely dropping things on the floor, then saying "uh oh". I had to repeatedly explain that when you do it on purpose, you don't say "uh oh".
Another word he said often was "again" and i think he got that from me because when he wanted to do something again, i would "again?!" in a joking way.

@Anagram: It took my LO 17 months to finally say Mama! He could say many other words, like dog and burp, first! It killed me! But now that he does say, my heart melts each and every time. Hang in there!

He said mama first. Now at 10.5 months, we've also got dada, uh-oh, and bye. I love hearing his little voice!

At 14 months, she says:
Hi/bye (sometimes she combines them and it sounds like die, which is a little creepy)
Dada
Mama
Doggy
All done
Outside
Again
It's so fun watching them learn. The other day I asked her to get her jacket and she went and did it. I was so impressed!

LO1's first word was Bobo (our dog) at 9 months. Didnt say mama until 15 months!!! By then he already had like 15 words so I was behind baba and ball and bear and all kinds of other nonsense.

Her first words were 'woof' and 'tickle' followed by 'dada', 'milk' and 'mama'. She's got a bunch more now - once she started, they just kept popping up!

Our first five were uh oh, hi, dada, arf arf and cookie. At almost 14 months I'm starting to lose count cause they are coming fast and furious. It's so fun to hear a new word!

DS is 14.5 months. His first word was dad, which he says all the time (daddys boy!). He says mama sometimes.
The words he says regularly are:
-Up
-Truck
-Num Num
-Banana
-Baby (nay-nay)
-Flag
-Duck
-Uh uh (uh-oh) .. For some reason he doesn't do the oh sound
And he knows a few animal sounds, and signs for all done

charlie's was ball at 11 months then mama at 12 months.
i think olive's was mama? man poor second child.

Ellie's was 'mama.' Lorelei's was 'poop.' Which perfectly sums up their personalities!

Look! (accompanied by pointing). He also sometimes says dada.
All of his other words are signs. He's 13 months.

11 mos we have dada and hi. She also says "hawt" and points sounds like hot but I think it's supposed to be "that"?

DS's first words were:
Dada (9m)
Mama (9m)
Benny (our dog) 10m
Hi (10m)
After that, he would learn a new word every week or two until he hit a year old. After a year, he had a word explosion, which is still continuing now, at 20m. He says over 150 words now.
